Piranha Pellet in 22 ...How good for Hunting ?

I would suggest polymags as about the only specialty type pellet worth buying. Though cphp's are a good pellet, the domed premiers are typically better. As domes tend to out perform any and all other types. Most of the crosman and Gamo specialty pellets are just a gimmick and of little value as these types of pellets tend to only be accurate at close ranges and in many instances, they aren't even accurate up close.

Domed pellets tend to be the best in the majority of airguns.

Back in the day, we used domed for field target and just about everything else (except international target shooting of course). We all realized that many of the pellets were nothing more than gimmicks too, just as you noted. But that was some 20+ years ago and air rifles have improved and so has the ammo .... but there is only so much you can do and what a pellet does at 700 fps out of a spring gun is a lot different than what that same pellet does out of a 900fps PCP.

I bought these to play with and just to see how they do... I have an idea I will be using my Die #1 CP's for serious work (I have 4 bricks of them) I wish I had bricks of my old Jets that were made in Japan ...I can still hear the sound they made when they hit an animal ... like a saw going through !

Most of my shots will be in the 30-45 yard range and my target of choice are starlings and maybe an occasional ground squirrel.

I'll keep you posted on my adventures ;- )

Been using the CPHP to play with my Hatsan while she is being broken in, shot maybe 25 shots so far. I will then try the Piranha's to see how they group. I hope they shoot well. The Crosman seem good, but all I have is iron sights right now, soooooo I'm just testing stuff.

I hope to go out tomorrow afternoon with a steel splash plate and see how this gun groups. I will sight in at 50 yds.

I sure would be a shame if a starling landed 30-40 yards away ;- )
