I grabbed a hawke sidewinder 6x20x42....I love the reticle and I have had gd luck with this model in the past . I personally think its clearer than the athlon midas I had but that's my opinion and it has more positive clicks on turrets 
than the athlon.

I really love the the thickness of the reticle....its not so fine that you cant see it but it's not thick like a utg either .

I have a 6-24X56 Sidewinder, it is my favorite. The only complaint I can come up with is the time it takes to remove the rear lens cap when I want to use a scope cam.

This is my go to scope. It does so many things right and it is still light and compact enough for woods walking.
Yes the reticle is unobtrusive and easy to read.
For benchrest/competition I might go with a higher magnification.

I had a few other scopes in mind before buying this one for the fourth time but I always think of what happens if it breaks...aztec ,discovery ,sun optics interested me but I'm scared of the warranty. Hawke has Great customer service.

I've had the Sidewinder FFP for a while. I'm having a hard time and still may not get used to the thick crosshairs. Not bad though if a barn is the target.

I own both the Tacticals 6.5-20x42 and 8.5-25x42 and I love them, I do regret not buying the 8-32x56 instead of the 8.5-25. But I really like the Hawke scopes and I have never had problems with mine
