Photo Thread: Quarry and the Airgun that Took It

Emu,

I thought I’d mix it up a little bit and throw in a couple other interesting pictures. I was out for a walk one day when I saw her. Her mom left her in the roadside ditch. She was a very smart mom. I was about 5 feet from the fawn, I talked to her to keep her calm so she didn’t bolt.

my apologies for taking so long to post my pictures…I still have some more phones to look through

@Flintsack No need to apologize. I’m glad you were able to find some hunting photos. Some of the finishes on your stocks look fantastic! That marbled look on the dark stain is beautiful. Can you tell us which types of airguns you used above or beneath each photo? The squirrel would’ve gotten a tennis racket or some vinegar thrown on it. I hate when animals climb screens.

Fly. Shot with PP700 shorty. Gun was producing 0fpe to make this kill. Took the annoying sucker off a coffee table. Pellet not necessary.

Dang Flint, I might not have the most esoteric tastes in airguns after all!

What a nice collection of lovely, diverse, and unique airguns you have. And it's nice to see you're not afraid to use the nicest among 'em to add another level to your hunting adventures. Makes me suspect you also hold your quarry in higher reverence than the average hunter, whatever species.

RESPECT,

RR

Thank you, I do very much enjoy the variety. And I like older stuff. It was made in a different mindset, in a different era.

For some reason this spring I was dropping chipmunks and squirrels at ridiculous distances with peep sights. I felt like I could hit anything… and basically I hit everything, it was crazy. I look back at it now and I was dropping them at 25-35 yards regularly, with head shots. I don’t think I could do that again. It’s a mental thing. I guess I shouldn’t talk myself out of it, huh.

Clearly you are more of a pistolero, and just as eccentric as l.

The pestiest pest on my hill, the Horsefly. Missed with my first shot, he didn’t go far enough and I got him with my second! He was a little one at 30 yards. Got a little lucky.

Kral NP02 pistol action in NP03 attire. 14gr crosman premier piranha (the barrel I’m shooting now is the only one that’s done decent with these pellets) running 830fps, good fly medicine. I’ve had a few tins of these pellets for a couple years now, they’ve been pretty much useless in all my guns. Bought them because my wal mart always has them and assumed they would shoot good since regular premiers and hollow point premiers do great in all my guns, they do not. This barrel seems to keep them under a inch at 30 yards.

Nothing major, just a couple squirrels. About 6 months ago I purchased my first PCP, a Dreamline Lite in .25 (at the time pushing 25 grain pellets @ 870fps). First time ever doing any sort of hunting with an air rifle and loved it. Just enjoy shooting the little FX in general. But, I’ll be putting it up for sale asap to fund a Leshiy classic and already have a Leshiy 2 that’s due to deliver tomorrow. I’ve had more fun, for whatever reason, shooting a air rifle than I’ve had shooting a powder burner.
