In this video I compared the difference between shooting pellets vs slugs and the effectiveness of different power platform. It one better than the other? Not to me at least for they both get the job done in similar manner in a low or no wind situation. The Impact with slugs however, has an upper edge over the Crown with pellets in windy condition.

Enjoy.

If you're in the USA, make sure you know how to tell the difference between a Raven and a Crow.

Many states have Crow seasons. They are are considered a migratory bird but not a migratory game bird so in some states, like here in California there is a long season and liberal bag limits. I’m not sure what it is exactly but I think it’s over 20+ crows per day or something. Not sure about Ravens but they are pretty easy to tell apart, usually by the size but also by the shape of the tail.

What I have noticed on ravens other than they are bigger than crows is that they have a more pronounced beak where it meets the bird’s skull. Also, if I remember correctly under US Federal law Ravens are considered a raptor and all raptors in USA are federally protected, aka don’t go there.

And @bob_o the last I heard you could hunt ravens in Canada. I remember my Canadian hunting friends surprised you couldn’t hunt ravens in the USA, he said, in Canada we can and good practice for my flat coated retrievers. My dogs were FCRs from Canada, and so I know a lot of Canadians who hunt with their FCRs, and who’s dogs go, “bark-aaa”. ;)
