Back at the pigeon farm again, but they were not hanging around after a couple of shots. So I walked around the farm and came across this "Starlings Pit" where lots of starlings perched and rest. It turned out to be a great starlings smacking day.

Maxx , hello. Good shooting , BUT , I have to admit the background scenery was scaring the crap out of me !! With slugs from those high powered guns , how far were they traveling ? I know cameras fool you w/ distance so it may be a moot point ! Pigeons are scarce here now . I did pop one w/ my Kral NP-03 off the barn yesterday( Hades ) and last week took one on the same spot w/ my Katran & NSA slugs (23gr). Hoping to get out to rat barn #2 tonight for some ratting action.

The highway is 588 yards away. By my ballistic calculation and my angle of shots, the slugs would not have reached that far.

@Max115 At which magnification(s) were your shooting from? Is your scope a SFP or a FFP? What was the distance from your shooting position to the roadway in the background?

12x zoom. Highway was 588 yards away. My angle of shot was about 1 degree. I checked my ballistic and based on my input the drop of my slugs at 588 yards was 83 feet. If I was correct, the slugs would have hit the ground way before that distance.

If I input a 45 degree angle shot, the drop at 588 yards would be 67 feet. Unless I am completely wrong with my understanding.

@Max115 I figured that you’d accounted for it, but seeing vehicles pass through the backdrop was freaking me out too. I was typing my response as y’all addressed the issue. I went back and revisited the beginning of the video to be sure that you hadn’t stated something that I’d missed.

At which velocity are you running those slugs? The way the shots sound in the video, I was thinking that you may have tuned your Impact down some. I’m not sure doing so would help you to shoot accurately in the wind.

@Max115 Ok, they had some heat on them. They make a nice “pop”sound upon impact when you made solid body shots. To be able to here it from 50 yards in the wind is loud! That head shot was nuts. Decent shooting in all that wind.

Yes, these H&N 25gr gen2 slugs really POP on impact. All the starlings got blown up pretty good on centre mass shot. I have more videos to edit and upload, so stay tuned. Thanks for watching.
