2E2BBA42-E41D-4093-B287-AA7F3CA4204F.jpeg. Misleading title but I’m happy to share this with everyone. Picture is my 87 year old father holding a groundhog I trapped today for one of the neighbors. Very blessed to have him still active!

You are blessed, was just looking at pictures of my old man. I miss him dearly… 🙏

Are ground hogs the same as prairie dogs?
No, completely different animal and another name for them is rockchuck. Prairie dogs are a western USA animal and groundhogs are a eastern species and bigger species. I’m sure someone can give more information on the difference between the two.

Never heard the name rockchuck? We call em either whistle pig or woodchuck......Mostly Woodchuck.

We call prairie dogs "gophers"......Although I think these two are different animals as well?

I am burying mine in 3 hours, old guy died last Friday.
As he was the kind of guy that devoted his life to helping others, there will be speeches at the funeral and also a wake and speeches at the union he spearheaded for 4 decades ( masons union )
Looking forward to seeing the turnout, it ought to be many.

Probably why my brain refused to let me sleep, so right now i have been awake for 24 hours strait

I'm sorry to hear that. My father left this world way too soon. The turnout for his services were huge. Seeing that many people coming from all over the country to pay their respects was a real comfort, and made a tough day tolerable. Hopefully you and your family will find the same peace in their presence.

It is fine, and absolutely not too soon as the old guy was YOB 1934, so he was 89.

The turnout was good, and as we are talking hardcore socialists here ( my father was a commie ) well all the socialist hymnes was sung.
Several union flags was there, and i got flashbacks to my youth when i accompanied my father to many a May 1 speech around the country.
Vivid remember when i gotten my first Casio watch, as the old guy set off with a resounding COMRADES !!!! i clicked start on the stop watch, and it was +2 hours before my father was done talking.

Also learned something, apparently the old guy chaired a association that otherwise have absolutely NOTHING to do with Commies, that's pretty impressive as i think we all know how entrenched some can be in their opinions / politics.
But the old guy was first and formost for the little guy, and highly solution oriented,,, the latter i think i have inherited CUZ i am not fond of leaving something unfinished.
