Last week I visited my good friend Chuck Misenheimer down in Texas to do a little dairy bird hunting. We took a trip to New Mexico for birds early in the week and on Thursday we met up with Michael "of this forum" to shoot some pest birds at a feed lot not too far away. After having lunch at the best bar-b-que place in the world we found ourselves at the feed lot. Lots of birds to shoot. It was a little breezy and the birds were a little spooky. Michael was shooting a 25 Cal EdGun Matador and a 22 cal Daystate Redwolf. I shot a new to me 22 cal FX Verminator. Chuck was the designated driver. I would like to say how impressed I am with Michael's shooting. He killed the first 12 birds he shot at with the EdGun. A few shots were in the 100 yard plus range. He dialed for his shots and the 25 Cal JSB pellets smoked those birds. After a while he switched to his Daystate Redwolf shooting the JSB 22 cal redesign pellet and commenced to powdering birds again. I can say the Redwolf and 22 cal redesgn pellet has got to be the best combo for pest bird shooting I have ever seen. There is a noticeable pop when hitting a bird, especially compared to the 22 cal Verminator I was shooting. We shot 88 birds in a couple hours and Michael shot way more than half. What a pleasant afternoon shooting with a new and "old" friend. I am looking forward to seeing both again at the EBR in October.
