Just a friendly reminder to all who hunt in the state of Pa. July 1 is the start of the new license year which means it is time to get rid of your expired license. It is still illegal to have an expired license or tags while hunting even if you have a valid license so take this time to remove it from your wallet or wherever you carry it while hunting. I checked the summary book and this law is still in force. ALSO! on a more positive note the PGC moved the starting date for squirrel hunting up from mid Oct. to Sept. 12. Best of luck to all and hunt safely. Thank you Pa. game commission for the earlier start date for squirrel season.

Now if we could get them to include .25 caliber to be legal for small game (squirrels). Then you only need one gun , enough FPE for small to coyote size game. As far as the illegal to have an expired license in possession, that’s just another ridiculous law created by the PAGC to give them another reason to fine you and ruin your day in the woods.

Thanks for the reminder I am going to head out for the first time this summer. Which game lands do you all head to? I am in SEPA looking to head to French Creek or Nockamixon

You might want to see if there is a SGL near you with a shooting range. SGL's #106, 43, 211 and 205 have ranges in the Southeast Region. Pa is picky about random target shooting. You have to remember that folks other than hunters use these lands and as always any shooting needs a good backstop and done in a safe manner.

French Creek has a shooting range, I haven't been there yet, but there is one at the game lands I'll check out. Thanks for the heads up
