Pellets for Metallic Silhouette

My experience with air rifles is limited to 10 meter target shooting, however I've shot smallbore metallic silhouette for several years. Turns out that there's a category of competitive silhouette for air rifles, who knew?!?!

Do different shapes of pellets fly better/worse at distances from 20-40 meters, versus 10 meters?

The wadcutter pellets used for 10m target shooting tend to not work well beyond 10m. You will want to use a domed head pellet for the longer ranged shooting. Hollow points, like the crosman premier hollow point pellets, also work well.

If you are in the US and are looking to get into air silhouette and need targets, Quality Targets makes affordable 1/10 scale targets and swinger type practice targets. https://www.qualitytargets.com/ihmsa-nra-3-16-thick-silhouette-steel-target-white-set-1-10-scale/

Forgot to ask, why do the domed/hollow points tend to work better? Do they fly better at distance than wadcutters? Or do they hit the silhouette targets harder yielding harder hits?
The domed have better ballistic properties when considering the longer distance and maintain accuracy over the wadcutters as distances increase. In theory, they will carry more energy to the target than a wadcutter due to drag differences, but accuracy is the prime reason not to use the wadcutter for games that are longer than 10m.
