Pellet velocity question

Nathrall,

It is most likely both the fit in your barrel, along with the hardness of the lead on the Crosman pellets. Crosman depends upon a tight fitting pellet in a bore in order to make a seal. Their pellets skirt does not "blow out" so to speak, like most other pellets do. This would be obvious if you recovered each pellet after it is shot.

To give you an idea, if I sight in my Steyr LG 110 FT with 7.9 grain Air Arms pellets at around 820 FPS, which is close to my limit, then try shooting a Crosman Premier at 7.9 grains, it would go almost 100 FPS slower, due to the tight fit.
