pellet hitting end cap on barrel

I have an Air Arms S510 and I see where the pellets are scuffing the inside of my endcap that covers barrel end.. which probably answers the question I have had about "flyers" and accuracy issues.. I'm wondering if I should just drill it out some or what.. I hate the thought of shipping it Out. wondering if its bent inside slightly or what.. Maybe write the Air Arms company?.. i dunno but im not happy..

I've heard and seen pics of the bushing that centers the shroud. It has an o-ring on it that deteriorates and causes the shroud to misalign. That may be your clipping issue. Maybe.

Yes Peter is on the right track. Loosen the two set screws that hold the barrel band in place. If it got bumped and pushed off center it will realign itself. Make sure to tighten the screws evenly and dont twist the barrel band while you tighten the screws. If its not pushed off center then check the o-rings and make sure they are there and not damaged. Theres an o-ring in both circles of the barrel band.

Ok thank you .. This is a brand new rifle, AA suggested shipping it back. I have no luck with that, had rifles broken ect.. Plus I'm in a state where it needs to be shipped to a gun dealer who of course gets $$ . Won't ship directly to me.. You know because so many mass killings with air rifles..!!! But that's a whole new thread.. Lol

ive had this issue and just drilled the hole a bit larger. easy fix and it worked fine

thats what i did finally.. just drilled the hole a few sizes larger.. seems to be working out but too early to tell.. dont want to jinx myself

You may still have pellet clipping if a moderator is ever attached. There is a barrel tube support inside the shroud that has two o-rings. If one or both o-rings are bad, the barrel will not stay centered in the shroud. I had to replace the ones on my rifle. Shroud removal is necessary for access. Using light heat at the base of the shroud will aid with the removal.

this is a brand new rifle.. do you think the o-rings would be off? or messed up? I'd hate to take it apart.. afraid of messing something up...

Seems if you had an issue before reaming out the thread protector then something is going on....New rifle or not.
If it is shooting accurately now and you don't plan on adding a LDC to make it whisper quiet, then just shoot and enjoy.
