I recently purchased an Umarex Fusion 2 and so far I'm loving it. However, it does not come with iron sights. The main reason for that is the integrated, triangular suppressor on the barrel. However, after looking at the suppressor, it looks like it was originally designed to have a sight mounted on it, but Umarex chose not to. So I've decided to design and 3D print my own.
Here are the rough numbers I'm using.
AT 10 meters, pellet drop is 34.9 mm (1.37 inch) with an estimated AVG speed of 550 ft/s (198 m/s). (I do not have a chrono.)
The vertical distance the front sight needs to be above the muzzle is 25.4 mm, (1 inch) minimum because of the suppressor.
Where I'm having difficulty is figuring out the vertical rise over the barrel of the rear sight. I think my math is right, but it looks like to get a zero at 10 meters, when the front sight is 25mm above the muzzle, the rear sight needs to be about about 29 mm above the barrel. Does that sound about right?
And yes, I plan on making sights adjustable for elevation and windage so I have some room for slop. I just want to make sure I'm in the ballpark before I go designing this.
Or am I overthinking this?
