I am new to the casting of pellets. And was wondering if there is a need to preheat the pellet mold and if so how do you preheat them??

I just rest my mold on top if they smelting pot while its heating up the lead . its usually more than warm enough by the time the lead is up to temp . This may not be the best way to do it . in have only been making my own slugs for a couple months now. So I am still pretty new at it . I did hit. My 1 gallon jug with a slugsI made this week at 400 yards. I hit it about 7 out of 10 shots when the winds not blowing to bad . there's an awsome feeling When you produce the slugs yourself and hit somthing that you never thought was possible . now I am going to try for 500 yards ...... Then 600 then 700 and then I run out of room ....
