Pellet and slug expansion at lower FPS

Thought I would share the group- I used my FX MK 1 Impact .25 w/ STX 700mm slug barrel shooting around 820 FPS at 35 yards for pellets and 745-760 FPS with the slugs at 35 yards. . I used the following pellets and slugs...

From top to bottom:

34 gr Lead Fist slug

29 gr NSA slug

28.24 H&N Baracuda

26.54 gr JSB Hades

26 gr FX Hybrid slug (not picture in the expansion)

The groups were tight in most cases.. Looking at the target the groups are

Far left - FX Hybrid

Top Center 29gr NSA Slug

Center JSB Hades

Far right Lead Fist slugs

Bottom center - H&N Baracuda

I used the 35 yard mark only because that is the max distance I do my backyard pestling and the low tune on the gun to to keep it backyard friendly but still put the smack down on these pests...It seems the JSB Hades hit there mark dead center and in the center hole two pellets same hole...That makes it nice when aiming at small critter's heads. Thought I would share. Oh yeah those Lead Fist slugs are like hitting a squirrel with a sledge hammer....flat out smoked checked them....

The slugs where shot into an electrical box filled with HVAC sealant putty.... Its soft and pliable but harder than clay ...EdgunLeshisey has a you tube video on how to make them

A little different than recovered from a (once) living target but still interesting. If possible, post some pictures of pellets recovered from the "pests" you eliminate and post those.

I like to test my projectiles in the same medium that I will be hunting. I found a good method is to head shoot a squirrel and then use him as a test subject. I will take a rolled up t shirt placed behind the squirrel to catch the projectile. It’s a great way to study expansion in the actual target that you will be hunting. Here is a post with lots of photos I made a while back about my method with my Impact and NSA slugs.
