N/A Pcp to break barrel

A have a couple pcp air guns avenger .25 and vulcan 3hp .30. Both do well for scoped ranges but im looking at something for ultra close to medium range and open sight. The more power the better. Having taken a fox at 6ft.makes me realize a 5x min scope is not ideal lol. A handy break barrel would fit the bill. Do they have enough power to take fox and similar size critters at close range.

What's your budget?
I dont have a set budget but im not a rich man either and my airgun fund has been already blown im just looking at the next shiny thing. Something my 9 year old son could use to learn the fundamentals on. Although he does shoot my avenger .25 and my vulcan 3 .30 under close supervision. A good beater gun that i would not be afraid to let him use and abuse a little bit. Maybe a good used springer of sorts but i know nothing about them. Something non pcp and single shot. That way im not being constanty bugged for air and billions of pellets lol

A springer that's powerful enough to take Fox is going to be too heavy and difficult to cock for your 9 year old. Something like a HW 30 /Beeman R7 might be a great plinker for both of you, but they're not powerful just accurate light and fun!
Thats why im asking im not sure if its even possible although something unscopped would be pluss maybe i need to look into a pcp with sights or just put offset sights on one i already have and on the other hand i might just need an excuse for another gun all together lol

Not a Springer made I would shoot a fox with. At any range. I have the Hatsan 135 in .25 caliber. About the most powerful Springer ever made. (converted mine from ram to spring) Even it would most likely just wound a fox enough to run off to suffer and die.
Springers are terribly inefficient compared to PCP’s in “power to weight” ratio. Plus they are difficult to master.

Springers are for plinking, not foxes. Use the Vulcan. For a nine year old this would be perfect.

IDK Depending on the size of the fox, at six feet a a big springer might work.. The only way I know of getting within six feet of a fox is if it's stuck in a trap. Even then I wouldn't use a springer for a mercy killing of a trapped larger animal.

Anyhow get the kid the Umerex Embark and be done with it. Make sure he's got self resetting reactive targets that properly challenge him. Something like various size spinners will keep him interested happy.
