Can PCP magazines be loaded with pellets and left loaded for an extended period of time? I know that pistol and rifle magazines are made with springs that don't lose tension if left loaded for an extended period, but what about airgun magazines?

Well IMHO , why would you want to? Overnight for hunting a second day I understand and the magazine whether spring load or wheel with o ring will not suffer either way. However, given weeks or more the o rings would stretch and the spring load types would lose tension.

Well, that was exactly my question...IF I wanted to load up a few magazines and didn't use them for a period of time (i.e. shooting other guns, etc.) would the springs lose their tension or are the springs made from a material (steel) like a pistol or rifle magazine that will not be affected by being compressed over time.

No effect, but I live recklessly and do not unclick my ballpoint pens before storage either.

Remember, Springs to not wear from taking a set, they wear by compression.
Leaving a loaded magazine will be just fine.

time wont effect the spring, they will settle all theyre going to settle within several compression cycles .. id say moisture is the number1 enemy of a mag left loaded with ammo, it can cause it to hang unexpectedly with one left sitting a long time .. a close 2 is losing control of your grip and letting them snap which can get them out of alignment ...

Always keep guns and magazines unloaded for safety reasons. A gun ready to shoot with a loaded mag is never a good idea if there's any possibility of having kids or crazy friends over. Not necessarily your kids who might already know better but if the wife has guests over with kids when you aren't home. Never know what can happen.

"You can leave the M3 magazines loaded for an extended period of time without damage to the magazine. We do not suggest leaving them loaded for more than a few months at a time, because the spring tensioner will start to lose its strength over time."
