If you had 3,000 to spend on a compressor what would be your top choice. I am looking at Hill or the Daystate?

A legitimate dive compressor like a Coltri or a Bauer I got a 4 cylinder tuxing Coltri clone for about 1400 shipped after the mandatory air freight and won't look back from 1 L a min.

Comparing the 2 you mention. There is No comparison. Daystate, it's an MCH-3. A real scba compressor configured and marketed to Airgunners. That is the least expensive breathing air compressor that can hit our pressure. Everything else below that price point are airgun compressors with varying quality. I'm very happy with my GX series compressors (cs4 and gx5). I also have a shop and can do the repairs myself, although I'm likely to get the Daystate if I have to repair GX5, rather than spending my time fixing it. It also depends on your intent.

My intent is to have a high qaulity HP compressor that will last a long time so I can continue to enjoy my Airguns for the future. I have some great guns and want to keep them filled with quality air without having to worry about my compressor breaking and leaving me stranded trying to find a dive shop.

I have set up buddy bottles and a regulator to use in my line of work and go thru a lot of air running nail guns off my hpa collection. I've amassed 17 problem free hours of run time thus far and it came with a while ring kit and reeds. The only gripe I have is what the lra current draw is for their electrical rating. Do not buy a 115 v electric. Do 220v or gas if you don't want to have a dedicated 30a+ circuit.

I have a Daystate 110v which is the MCH-3. The 220v is the MCH-6 which if you have the plug or install one is a better option (fills faster). I have had 2 Hills and they are like Britich cars - when they work they work great but only 1/2 the time! 
I now have a GX CS4 for the road and for individual gun filling and it has worked well. But I use the Daystate more than anything. Can't go wrong with it... unless you add $2000 to your budget and go for the king - Alkin!

I have one and it's great. However the only repair option is do it yourself. The Daystate can be repaired at any Scuba Compressor repair shop. Nuvair sells and services the mch-3 and mch-6.

That's a legitimate one too and looks really nice. I can put a soft start or a different motor on mine to fix the issue. They claimed 2.2kw draw, i put the fluke clamp on mine and saw it spikes at 80 amps for a millisecond on intial locked rotor startup(high but not unusual). I just ran a dedicated outlet in my garage and solved it. I haven't even bothered to pull the covers off the motor to see if i can rewire the chinesium to 220v...i have spare motors
I've told the story before but post it as a warning to others who may make the mistake and aren't as suited to running electrical as some of us may be. Cheat code, sometimes there's a 220v outlet for an electric clothes dryer that can be exploited if you have a gas dryer.

My Bauer Purus is over 40 years old and still works great. That said, If I’m being honest it could use some new valves and the filter/separator housing is past its rated lifespan. I’m looking at replacement of these soon and parts are expensive. But hey, at least they can still be had after all of these years. Keep this in mind when you’re considering a “lifetime” compressor and throwing down a lot of money up front for it. I’ve wondered if a decent sub $1k compressor like a CS doesn’t make more sense.

Depending on air demand, it usually does for most users. I burned up a cs3, 2 yong hengs and a yong heng clone. I use hpa for more than just our hobby however. Even the goofy little Shoebox clones off Amazon work well for most people's uses. The only thing I killed on one of those was a mosfet on the 12v power supply, and my hunting partner twisted off his motor shaft. At 180 bucks they're not a financially untecoverable thing when they break tho.

I can see in USA those guys seems to be stocking on spare parts and do regular videos about gx pump compressors troubleshooting, but they focus on the snaller models and the budget version cs4-i which is their most sold model. Shareing url link of their website which has not being updated since 2023 but their youtube channel have new videos. And also the facebook group page where all issues are discussed. Overall 5k2 or their newest model are solid options best value.I had mine 5k2 for 1 year and 60 db is the noise pumping large 10L and 6.8L tanks one after anorher. Great for appartment no water no smelly oil and most importantly no noise. btw you can order it from alibaba also and will save you some cash but is traveling like crazy for 3 months.
