PCP and extended storage

Greetings, my current pest (grey squirrel) control rifle is a vintage custom Macari spring gun. It has served me well but thinking again about a PCP. The challenge is that I can go weeks w/o shooting, but when I need it I need it quickly. Will a PCP hold a charge for a long period of time? Does it effect the rifle? If stored for weeks, would the next shot be down on pressure? Thank you....

As long as your pcp doesn't have any leaks it should hold air for a long time. You should always have air in the tank and don't have the gun cocked when storing it. I always have the habit of not cocking the gun until I am ready to shoot. All of my guns have at least 200 bar in them, that way I will know if the gun developed a leak from the last time I used it.

I have some PCP’s that sit for quite a while until I shoot them. I always have at least 200b in them also. But don’t ever expect them to be anywhere close to the reliability of a springer.

While I think it is important to “exercise” one’s air rifles frequently to maintain the unique components not found in powder burners, as stated by others, a solid pcp will hold its air pressure nearly indefinitely while stored in a consistent temperature and humidity condition.

Pulled the Impact Compact out after a yr of storage and still read 200 bar. If it doesn't leak it will hold air a long time but that's kinda a duh statement. Goes along with if I dont buy anymore PCPs I will have a bigger checking account. LOL if your gun is tight it will hold a long long time. Best of luck
