PCP Airgun Bore Polishing

I've seen several discussions in this forum on folks polishing their airgun barrels using JB paste products. JB has two paste products (bore cleaning and bore bite). Which one are folks using?

J-B Bore Compound, then follow up with Bore Bright for finer polishing if desired.

Yep, I've used the bore compound to polish up 4 airgun barrels and it works really good.

Any particular type of patch you pull through? Cotton? Synthetic? I know some people say cotton leaves too much fluff behind.

1200 grit non-embedding lapping compound also works well to polish a bore. $6.35 This is all I use.

 Now I'm curious...I know your supposed to send some pre-lubed patches thru the barrel on PCP air guns, periodically, for storage Because it helps the steel rifling from rusting, and friction wear...

But I never heard of - Bore polishing. What is the purpose of that? Does it enhance accuracy

1. yes, sometimes it becomes more acurate

2. if you have to clean your barrel to keep the gun acurate, its possible that after polishing, you have to clean it less = smoother surface, less residues from the pellets



but there is no generell rule and every barrel is different.
