Pard DS35RF...anyone bit the bullet yet?

So will any new units coming from the shop have the new update?

How are you guys liking the unit? Are they simple to use or overly complicated?

Still trying to find either a dedicated scope, or a clip on unit.
Wow, a few loaded questions. My scope is a 70mm with the 940 ir. So far I'm really liking it. Daylight optics are good well into dusk, even without IR you can get a good image, good enough to shoot in the 'dark', Now the clarification, I'm looking into a dark area that I can't see any detail with the naked eye, with the scope I can make out enough detail to be accurate, I'm looking at a orange target paper with black 1" circles. Turn on the IR (950) on low and 35 yards is a snap. My biggest issue right now is getting to the expanded menu, I haven't quite figured out the magic sequence yet, but I'm getting closer or I could break down and RTM,...nah not happening. I'd like to see the range finder moved down closer to the zero, the PIP is up so high it's hard to see. Once you get the expanded menu you can turn on, or off, a whole bunch of things, auto shut off, auto recording and a bunch of other stuff.

@HogKiller Sounds similar to the NV008 LRF laser rangefinder. I have to move the rifle a bit to accurately range my target. It’s tougher the further away I am from a target. It’s particularly challenging when the animal is moving. Does your unit have auto focus? I don’t recall all of the specs.

No 'auto focus', but if you use the 'pinhole' it may act as an auto focus, haven't played with that yet.

@HogKiller How do you focus that scope? Is there a wheel, knob, or set of buttons?
There is a lever on the front left side, it is VERY sensitive. IF I've read correctly by using the pin hole cap you get a greater depth of field, I need to test that out. So far I've been concentrating on figuring out the menus and buttons. I'm hoping to get it out to my permission to test it at some distance, day light only. The 940nm ir is suppose to be good out to 300meters /320 yards. which is way beyond my skill set or needs. Back to the focus, I'll go out and sight down my street, it's a bit over 200 yards, that should do it, and let you know.

Ok, attached a video, conditions slightly hazy, facing roughly NE, sun at upper right , right in my eyes, so I was resting on a garbage can and trying to shade my eyes, pretty much what my Horsemans permission is. The flashes of light is the pinhole cap being opened and closed. I didn't open my gate, people get nervous when I'm sighting in scopes on a gun.

@HogKiller Can you take some shots from inside of a doorway to at least see if you can get it sighted in the way you want using those rings?
No, I don't have enough room out of a door, but it's just math/trig. Neither of which i'm stellar at but, If it had to depressed to get the elevation to zero then if you depress the scope you'll get back on zero. I'm Lysdexic so results may vary  If the rain lets up a little I've got umbrellas on my patio, I just have to set up a bag and bring the target in closer for a close zero and reset the PARD. It may not be today and the rain (drizzle) is suppose to let up tomorrow.

Update; got out and finally managed to occasionally get the PARD to allow me to make the corrections. Now it's possible I messed up the push sequence but I played HECK getting to that menu. I read the instructions as press and hold the #1 button and the menu would come up. Uhhhhh HECK NO. then all of a sudden it'd appear. So with the appox. 20MOA I'm back up close to zero, if it had a zero If I can get the menu to play well I might mess with it more. Anybody have any ideas, I'm open. Ok, it's a single press but, I'll give it a try and see what's up. I get that then I need to play with the Ballistic Calculator.

Update: NOPE not working, single press, long single press, finger get tired single press, counter clockwise nothing can't get to the home screen menu to change a darn thing.

Updated Update: Upon the advise of Chen I reloaded the firmware, as usual, zero clue as to what it is doing, my GUESS and I'm awaiting conformation, is that there is always some power going to the card and if you insert a update it just does it. That reloading seems to have cured the Home Screen issue I've been having.

Just found this thread and see I'm not the only one that is having issues with getting this scope zeroed... Out of the box it shoots way too low, and you run out of elevation adjustment. I'm still 3" low at 20 yards. I've tried this scope on 3 different guns w/different rings and had the same results. I thought maybe I got a dud, and was going to send it back for an exchange, but sounds like they're all this way. Doesn't seem right that you have to shim it or get special rings to make this work. This seems to be a design or software flaw.

As you've seen I bought some Eaglevisions, set to 20 MOA, solved the issue.

I bought this scope from b and h photo as a used item, looked brand new to me. I am using it on an fx impact m3. I had no issue with zero it like @roaoro said. It was only a few clicks off for me from default. I used the rings as supplied in box. Suppose will depend gun to gun. On the impact it is 3 inches above barrel using default rings, this is me eyeballing it with a tape measure for putting into strelok or the ballastic calculator.

Here is a short video I recorded using the internal recording feature.

@TracyR

What magnification was that?

Thank you for posting that footage.
