P10 / P15 owners

Looking at getting an entry level bullpup, and the snow-peak/SPA/artemis/whatever P10/P15 appeal to me. The P15 is the newer and branded as the better model, but the P10 appeals to me more on paper. Having handled neither, I was hoping some people that did can comment, as I havnt been able to find any direct comparisons online.

First of all, the weight. The P15 is nearly half the weight; and looks like it. I wont be carrying this thing around all day anyway, so I really dont mind the greater weight. Can it really be the case that the weight has been cut by that much without flimsying up any important components? I certainly like the beefier look of the P10 better.

Ive handled the M22 and M16, which seem to share their action with the P10/P15 respectively. The M22 bolt action felt solid; the M16 sidelever was a rattly affair; and for the P15 apparently it is to be expected that the pin falls out after a little use and you have to patch it back together somehow. I get the advantages of a sidelever especially on a bullpup, but ill take a solid bolt over a rattly sidelever any day.

The magazines of the P15 seem like a clear downgrade to me over the P10.

The overall impression I am left with is that relative to their older lineup, snowpeak has been optimizing for cost aggressively, as bears out in the asking price as well. Many people seem to love the low prices and low weight; but I get the feeling id rather pay a little extra for the old model.

Am I missing something here?

The P15 is generally rated better over the P10, the P15 does not share the action of the M22 or M16 . The P10's action is a multi shot version of the P12...The P15 was developed after market feedback on the P12...It has a larger following in Europe and Western Asia...The P10 is considered a good gun when as others have correctly said you get a good barrel...Most .22 and 177 barrels seem to be accurate after a good polishing, cleaning and crowning, the .25's seem to have the most accuracy issues...As others have clearly stated the P15 is a great platform for 177 and .22 but it lacks the design architecture to be a great .25...

I would actually argue that Snowpeak has spent more time on QC and R&D recently, as they have shown on the PP750 and their new to market semi auto M40 and M50 , as well as a refined and upgraded verson of the M11/ M22 called the M25...See below ....If I was you I would wait a bit for the new P35 (Mid Cocking P15) :)

I have 2 P15's, my first was .25. It was a turd. It leaked air when new and the barrel was junk. I put a Huma reg in which upon installation I found a dislocated oring due to improper assembly so probably not necessary, and installed a LW polygonal barrel. Now, it shoots like a laser, but because I put a bunch of $$ into add-ons I have more into it than I should have. My second, a .22 was flawless out of the box,and shoots extremely well. Most of the problematic guns were in .25.

I learned the important add-ons to minimize the cost. You want an Air Fective shroud. You want a Jake Bowman (just search fleabay for P15) printed cocking lever handle and adjustable buttpad. You want at least 2 CARM magazines and maybe a single shot loader as well.

Even though I have more money in the .25 than I can ever hope to recoup, a sub 5# bullpup that fits my 5'6" 120# body and carries like a dream, is priceless to me. Although there are no parts available in the US, I have ordered parts (that I damaged/lost while "learning", from Krale (Netherlands), which is where I bought my guns. It is extremely easy to work on this gun. I can completely disassemble mine in about 10 minutes, and re assemble it in not much more. After the first time, it's a slice.

When Krale has the .177 back in stock I will order it as well, and an Air Fective shroud is already sitting here for it. I was so sure I would buy the .177 that I ordered the shroud for it when I ordered the one for the .22.

I own several SPA Artemis. They all work well. My .25 M22 was the best out of the box -- great build quality and accuracy. Amazingly smooth bolt. All I needed to do was telescope out the shroud and put hair curlers into it for near-perfect silencing.

Update: replaced the fixed-setpoint stock reg by an Audrius with a large plenum. This gun is now 70J. Shoots the 2.2 gram King Heavy mkll at 250m/s. 20 accurate (70m+) shots.

The pr900w (aka Diana Stormrider) required more barrel polishing (breech end especially) and a Lane reg but both perform very well. Amazingly light hunters in .22.

Update: regs are set at 120 bar. JSB Jumbos fly at 250m/s. 25 accurate shots (50m), hard to believe out of such a small cylinder (titanium!).

The P12 and P10 in .25 are high quality guns at a low price after replacing the undersized hammer retention pin on the cocking bolt to cure the gritty cocking. They also need some baffles from a 6usd Aliexpress oil filter in the shroud to quieten them down.

I got the p10 recently with the updated stock. An amazingly attractive little shooter, very solid feel & having difficulty putting it down ... Go look anywhere else for that 300 cc titanium cylinder -- I haven't found it yet ...

Update: the stock reg in the p10 is consistent but very sensitive: a quarter turn changes the set point by 30 -some bar. Need to experiment to find a good HST-reg combo. I landed at a 140 bar set point and a flush Hammer spring adjuster. 45 consistent and 60-m accurate shots (JSB King 1.645 gram, 250m/sec) from 230 bar.

The P10 mags are excellent -- the same evanix concept as also used in the M16 and the M22. They have never missed a beat whether in .22 or .25.

The P15 mags are different. I don't have one but have read lots of bad reviews.
