Optic Damage for Springers?

I used the same UTG True platform scope on my RWS 48 for 7-8 yrs and now have it on a PCP, the 48 was putting out just under 19ftlbs for about 4500 shots. It depends on scope build as even springer rated scopes can be damaged, I think the older UTG scopes were better built.
Ive got another fixed parallax UTG thats been on at least 7-8 different springers ranging from 11ftlbs up to 23ftlb and its still going strong. Both of these scopes Ive had since 2012-13. Use good mounts, springer rated scope and keep everything tight on gun and you minimize your chances for damage. Have also blown up non springer rated scopes on the 48s and model 54s in as few as 25 shots.

4K to 5K shots at about 17 FPE on my HW95K .22 with a Hawke Airmax 4-16 x 44 mm compact mounted with Hawke tactical 2 piece medium rings & no problems so far.

Wonder if anyone has tried reversing the piston travel ? then you would have both recoil in the same direction , Maybe even a bullpup springer ,. How weird is that ?
OK i promise no more coffee today .
The Webley tempest is set up that way but it's a small pistol and I don't think anyone's putting any scopes on it.

I often wonder if many new scopes with etched glass reticles and better materials and construction could hold up to springer abuse.

I recently reached out to March and Zeiss asking about spring piston air rifle use. March said they test and warrant their Compact (the model I specifically asked about) for spring piston use. Zeiss said their Conquest V4 (again model line specific question on my part) are piston air rifle rated.

That to say we may be living in a time where a lot more scopes are rated/capable than people realize, and it may be worth reaching out to manufacturers to learn more about any scope you’re considering putting on a springer. Now for the disclaimer: So far I have not evaluated either claim. I think I will soon start by throwing my Zeiss directly into the fire on an RWS 54, however. 😬

Did similar reaching out to SCHMIDT-BENDER asking about there PM-II 5-25 tactical scopes .... They responded a resounding NO, they are not spring piston air gun rated !!! So even 3-4K $$$$ optics are no guarantee a spring piston air gun won't damage them  (n)

Since you mention D54 I have a Sightron Stac 4-20×50 on mine in .22. Approacing 2000 shots with no problrms. It is mounted in Burris Signature Rings with inserts. I shoot it to and including 100 yards. Have fun.
