Opinions wanted. Element optics scopes

I’m in the market for a new or possibly used scope with zero stop , ffp , I’ve tried a ffp scope along time ago believe it was a talos anyway the cross hairs were so fine that to me it was unusable, now people are saying the new ffp’s are much better easy to see, Thoughts on the hawke frontier, element titan or helix , on these 3 is the reticle easy to pick up, or any other good options under a grand ,

I have the Nexus, purchased it on a promotional offer to see if Element optics would be an alternative to Leupold.

I have been very prejudiced against it for not being a Leopold. That being said, a side-by-side comparison with a Mark 4 6.5-20×50 mm. the Nexus was as clear at 1800 meters and had better light gathering in low light ( both 20× watching deer at 400 meters). For close work, the 5x is a bit too much, but the image is clear at 10 meters. The illumination makes the reticle defined and useable at low power.

What I don't like is the optic pulls too much light on a bright days and will need a sun shade, or there is a halo on the edges. This didn't hurt clarity but was distracting. The adjustments are very soft and can easily move. I like a stiff, defined click, but that is my preference.

For an overpowered scope (Imho), the Nexus is a nice optic.

I bought a Helix FFP wanting to try it out and reading that that the reticle is viewable (useable) at lower powers by a certain you-tuber. Well it is not for me, the upper powers a OK but I put this on a walk around hunting rifle where I will be using the lower powers out in the woods and shooting offhand mostly at squirrels and varmints. At low power in the woods or even a shaded area the reticle disappears, now I am a old fart and eyes are not what they used to be so maybe someone with younger eyes or better eyes it may be OK. I went back to the SFP, 100 yards is a long shot for me and where I live hunting in the squirrel woods in the summer and fall most shots are around 25 yards seldom ever get at shot at 50 yards. I think that if a guy were to stay on the higher powers and shooting of a rested surface the FFP is OK. Shooting on lower powers, hunting and walking around shooting close range targets, normal air rifle range and targets of opportunity give me a Second Focal Plane.

Your mileage my vary!
