Opinions on Trijicon AccuPower scope

I have a Hatsan BT65 in .30 and am looking for a decent scope to put on it. The scope’s main purpose is to deal with a raccoon problem I am having around my chicken coop at night. They can’t get to the chickens but are tearing things up trying and also destroying my vegetable garden. I want a scope with good low light performance, an illuminated reticle in MIL or similar and decent glass. I also would like the parallax to focus down to 10 yards. I mainly use this rifle for plinking and pest control but the scope that’s currently on it doesn’t have many of the features I am looking for and I want to replace it. I have been shopping around and noticed DVOR has a 4-16x50 Trijicon AccuPower with the features I am looking for at $485.00. I would really like to stay under $500 if possible and this also fits that criteria. What’s everyone’s opinion on this scope and is there anything else I should consider purchasing instead?

Never owned an Accupower, but I did own 3 Accupoints at one time. The glass was beautiful and I never had a problem with any of the scopes.

curious..., the manufacturer does not say anything about what the minimum parallax is. Neither does OpticsPlanet.

Dvor says 10 yards. If that's correct, great!

However, they got the minimum elevation adjustment at 40 moa (= lousy at best). The manufacturer says 80 moa (= good).

Just saying — who should we believe — for either data....



➔ Make sure to take a screenshot of the 10 yards at Dvor — in case it isn't true and you want your money back....



You want to hunt — with changing ranges. I personally prefer FFP over SFP so I just have to check and/or memorize one holdover table, not one for every magnification I might want to use....



The turrets are capped — I like to quickly dial my holdovers and wind holdoffs. But when there are caps involved, I feel the manufacturer really doesn't want me to mess with the dials...!  





The field of view (FoV) at min. magnification 4x is 26ft (25.8ft). That's not bad and not great, in my opinion — considering that you are planning to take close range backyard shots — at night. Those shots seem that rapids target acquisition is difficult — unless the FoV is large.

You might consider a 3x at the bottom end instead of a 4x. (However, the actual FoV is what matters, not the magnification — cf. the attached PDF for the specs on that.)







The dial for the illumination is on the ocular lens — if you plan to attach a camera or night vision that might make things a bit complicated.... (just saying).





I'm not trying to talk you out of buying this scope...!

DVOR is CREDIT ONLY AND NO CASH REFUND SO BETTER MAKE DAMN SURE ITS A GOOD SCOPE.

I bought the no brand label version for less than 1/4 the cost direct from China and I thought I paid too much.

Buy another brand such as the Sightron S-TAC at the same time because you MAY WANT to RETURN THAT SCOPE especially for the price you pay unless you don't have anything clear to compare it to like a SWFA SS as a baseline then probably wouldnt matter to your non critical eyes.

That eye box is like the Element Helix.

I found a spec sheet put out by Trijicon and they did list parallex focus as 10 yards to infinity. They also showed 80 MOA of adjustment, I hope both are correct. I really appreciate you sharing that spreadsheet, there is a ton of information on it.

Are you telling me that the scope I am looking at is made in China and you bought basically the same scope from the factory that produces them in a different brand for 75% less?

Are you telling me that the scope I am looking at is made in China and you bought basically the same scope from the factory that produces them in a different brand for 75% less?

I purchased the Trijicon from Amazon for a little less than it's normal retail price and returned it the next day because I thought it was JAPAN or USA made. I can go look for the invoice to get the exact model number.
