It’ll still be fun. If it’s serial #336, tell it Daddy says Hi
LOL!
Ive had a few .30s and in my opinion, a good trigger is rather crucial. The shot cycle on big bores is so "harsh" in most models described and out there, as they are not typically balanced and simply required a lot of force to open the valve to create the high pressure necessary to shoot these slugs. The higher the pressure fill, the more you have to contend with this, and any additional complexity to the shooting cycle makes it more challenging to be accurate. I was thankful for the Timney trigger in the Extreme, and even the Bold 2 trigger in my PBBA was quite good.
If by comparable in price, you mean what Dennis sells originally for, not many options. There is the Badger (made by XP) and Seneca (Sam Yang) that come close to the price and could be rebarreled to .308 with some minor tuning. Depending on whether you are committed to that caliber, a Seneca Recluse could be a nice option going up slightly or even a Bulldog.
If you are committed to the .308 caliber, and price is still a consideration and wanting to remain low, the Texan .308 is a pretty good option (Im on my 4th Texan, currently a shrouded .457 with Maddog). Add a Maddog stock later on (or as soon as possible) and its a nice platform. You can easily change out the bottle with valves for .257, .357, and .457 for around $265 (
https://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/AirForce_Spin_Loc_Air_Tank_Fits_357_AirForce_Texan_Rifles/7786 ) and add another OEM barrel (at least in .357) for $300 (
https://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/AirForce_24_Barrel_357_Caliber/7983 ). I can only imagine you will be able to buy just the valve and various barrels at some point............if you are in to that sort of thing

Also with the PBBA, the .308 is compatible with .357 (same porting) but a simply barrel change out (they are threaded into the action, love this) and bolt. I believe Terry said this was around $400 and change. Of course you can also get after market barrels etc to make your own changes.
Sorry, this was an opinion on "other than Quackenbush" but I was in your place at one time and could never get on the list. About the only way to get it at that price is if he brings one to a show, otherwise people sell used ones for about a 33-50% mark up

Some view them as collectibles, I guess. At that point, you are over the cost of a new Texan .308 and approaching PBBA, Extreme, and XP.
