Verve powder coat is NOT like automotive paint, you can not match every gun using color codes, come on guys you need to start being realistic here!

Opinions on different colors for LDC finishes

There is a purpose for the orange tips on Airsoft guns!
No Neil, please do NOT even consider that one.
I think some will like the more brightly colored/patterned LDCs.
Others like me would prefer subdued/flat finishes.
I do not consider it an either or question, rather what do you as a customer want for your airgun.
Course we all know about opinions . . .

RidinLou you have no worries it never even entered my mind to consider something like that, these are not paint guns or toys and I would not do anything that made them look like one. I see it was a mistake posting this question, the suggestions are getting too unrealistic for a one man business. For a big corporation maybe some of them would be OK but people need to remember I do NOT have unlimited resources. My original question was about whether or not to offer different colors, why the responses get so way off base I have no idea, Neil.

Neil, when I answered you original post, I truly wasn't trying to be a smart-alex. I am aware that most colors are imparted onto aluminum during the anodizing process. However, there are other ways to color aluminum—with ink.
I have a friend who used to be a sales rep for a company specializing in ink especially formulated for aluminum. I ask him how it was applied to objects which are odd shaped—not flat like paper. I'm told the process is similar to powder coating, but a bit more precise because the ink isn't self leveling like powder coating. I'm not in the business, and I don't know the exact process used. Nor do I know the costs involved, or the durability. I fostered it only as a suggestion.

I was not referring to you specifically in any of my responses, just in general, my questions was about offering different colors, not offering different coatings. I am locked into powder coating and have a lot of money invested in it. I had about 30lbs of black powder at one time that I could not use because it just did not look right on the end product. I have found something that looks good on most guns, trying to match every air gun is NOT something I am even going to consider, Neil.

I think you need to calm your nerves a little.
Powder comes in many many colours and each colour has a CODE (or a reference of some sort from each manufacturer). When I said colour match, I didn't mean (and here you assumed) mixing colours! Surely you are not going to stock every possible powder colour out there so if the customer wants a specific colour, they can tell you the code and if you can and are willing to source that colour then fine.
Maybe put up a chart of colours you stock (&/or can source) on your site and let the customers decide which to go for. As you've invested heavily in this setup, this seems the sensible option going forward.

If my nerves need calming it is because of unreasonable responses to a simple request. Thanks to this type of response I will continue to do what Henry Ford did and offer every color, as long as it is black!
