Opinions needed on some FFP scopes (Riton, Athlon, Bushnell, etc.)

Got the USO TS25X yesterday and so far I am impressed. Glass is really, really excellent - CA is non-existent (so far with my limited testing). On par with my Falcon X50 (Japan). The JVCR reticle is the perfect thickness and seems to be usable throughout the entire magnification range. It also is very well designed with plenty of aimpoints but doesn't look cluttered. Clicks are really robust and tactile. They aren't particularly loud but frankly that doesn't bother me since I don't necessarily care if the entire range knows I'm making an adjustment.

Like I said, I'll post a full review later since I think this would be a solid choice for airgunners.

I'd like to rescind my glowing comments about the USO TS-25X. After closer inspection it was strikingly mediocre. Glass was average (on par with a Vector Sentinel 10-40 which is OUTRAGEOUS given that the USO retails for 5x as much) and really struggled at 100 yds, clicks were meh, and the scope looked like it had been previously opened when I received it. All of that equals a return.

Ended up going with a Burris RT-25 from Midway that I am very happy with. Clicks are much more robust, glass is what you'd expect for that price (i.e. very clear with no CA). As I intended to do with the USO I'll post a review of the Burris since I think it is a good choice for airgunners - especially with the EXCELELNT SCR-2 Mil reticle.

Ended up going with the USO TS25X. I will post a review when it comes since there is NO info out there on that model. There's review on the TS20X but that is a significantly different optic. I have a feeling the TS25 is going to be one hell of an optic.

What are your findings on the USO Looking at that one, wondering what the verdict is..

To be honest I wasn't very impressed. It wasn't a bad optic but for the price there's waaaay better options. The glass was about equal to or perhaps marginally better than a Vector Sentinel and Hawke Airmax. Clicks were accurate but kinda mushy and not that hot.

To be fair, I could have certainly got a lemon. But, I was sort of soured on it so I sent it back to Tombstone Tactical (great guys w/ great prices), took the hit w/ a 10% restocking fee, and went with a Burris RT-25 from Midway and now I'm a happy camper. OUTSTANDING reticle, much, much better glass than the USO and the clicks are better as well. I am still curious about a Bushnell Match Pro/Riton/Athlon however...

If you want to take a chance on the USO, definitely get it from Tombstone Tactical since they have them (with the tree-style JVCR reticle) for $575. I posted a link to it earlier in this thread.

I'm glad you like it!

I see the Burris Rt-25 5-25x56 has a minimum parallax distance of 25 yards.... Too bad since that's a deal breaker for me.

Matthias

It's actually 15 yds. I don't know why retailers get it wrong but it's confirmed 15 yds from Burris and my testing. RT-15 is 10 yds. RT-25 would be a knockout punch if it was 10.

Thanks a lot for the info!

Interesting that Burris would contradict their own webpage... — in assembling my Scopes Specs Tables I've come across a few errors on manufacturers webpages....

Well, a min. pararallax of 15y is a different story.

Would that 15y be at 25x magnification, or at 5x?

It's 15 yds at 25x. There's several YouTube reviews that confirm the 15yd parallax for the RT-25 and 10 yd for the RT-15 as well.
