Opening morning doe

(posted this to a couple forums sun afternoon ,forgot to post it here . whoops) Sort of a rough morning , hurt my back yesterday with my hand pump .took a long time getting around and heading out in the am . The hike in was a bit rough but the trail had been recently cleared so that was defiantly nice . Got to my brush blind about 45min later than I'd have liked . Didn't see much other than squirrels and chipmunks . At 8:20ish a doe was walking by grazing at about 50 yards . She walked behind a tree and was continuing to slowly walk forward . I braced on a tree next to me waiting for her to step out , after she did the .500 lee round ball was sent through both lungs and part of the liver . She ran about 60 yards and pilled up within eyesight . First deer with and air gun(taken plenty with black power and bow) . The drag out was really rough , but got it done . I will be buying an air tank as soon as i can afford it ...

Gun is a stock single tube sam yang dragon claw .50 shooting .500 188gr round balls topped with a leupold vx-1 1-4x20 heavy duplex shotgun scope .
 
Congratulations. It's great to see more and more people responsibly taking big game. I think it bodes well for us guys that are in states that have yet to legalize air power for the larger stuff. The more stories like this that are out there (ie. ethically taken game at proper ranges with proper energies and proper shot placement) the easier it is for the rest of the states to back moves towards allowing more opportunities to hunt with airguns.

Thank you . It is a very effective hunting tool when used within its limits . I'd like to see more states legalize their use as well .

"DuncanHynes"What velocities is a 188gr ball coming out of that thing? Nice hit for sure. Pop a 3-9x on it and get a tank. No way I'd be pumping that bad boy up.

Should be around 720 .A bigger scope would just get in the way of the loading port .My leupold shotgun scope is plenty at 50 yards on 4x . I will start saving for a tank early next year .
