Open sight springer share your groups

I got tired of the ol springer scope chase and shot more and more factory open sights . I still don't se a scope bit this bevame more fun and challenging.

So of you shoot a springer open( no peeps)

Heres a spot to post your tries or any input on experiences.. no scoring, no pressure, no awards just open sight fun .

Ashamed to post mine. I need glasses but have survived with "readers". Unfortunately they don't work for open sights and everything is blurry.
Even with glasses you’ll have issues with open sights. Particular issue will depend on whether you’re near or far sighted, your astigmatism, etc. We did 25 yd standing a few days ago and at my age that’s about the edge of where I can make out a small target. Still fun though.

No need for shame here... Its just a show and tell for fun. Im not judging for cash or prizes. You may even get a reply that helps things out and betters your next try., Never know..

The two on the right shot last evening, 5 shot groups. Ten shot group on left this morning, near perfect conditions. HW 77 .177 H&N ftt 8.6. I prefer a peep but put factory rear sight on for this challenge.
Ive wanted to try a peep but never get around to doing it .. i do know my sunshade cutting glare / blurr on the rear blade was big in holding the front in its notch clear and more focused i guess ..

I'm almost 77, had cataract surgery and the rear sight is just too fuzzy to be really accurate. Ok for tin can plinking, ect, but not so great for shooting groups so I have gravitated back to peep sights, much better. About 15 or so years ago I shot my best ever open sight group about 1 1/4" at 100 yards shooting not an airgun but a vintage 1896 Swiss Schmidt Rubin, using Swiss military ammo. I did not have the military sight but what they call a Furter sight, a blade type rear sight, much like the military sight, but micrometer adjustable for windage and elevation.

This is a mint condition pre-safety HW 35. It must be 40-50 years old. I’ve never enjoyed shooting it that much, it’s always had a scope on it. The scope made it heavy and it buzzed.

Because of this post, for the first time I tried shooting it with open sites. It is phenomenal. The site aperture is also adjustable which is really cool.

I decided to shoot off hand, because that’s how Springers shoot the best. Here is an eight shot group at 20 yards.

With my old eyes, I am not sure my neighbors would feel safe with open sights, so necessity requires a scope. My hat is off to those who can shoot well with open sights, brings back fond memories!!!
Ditto, I cannot see a 1" bull clearly at 25 yards. This is Sunday morning plinking at16 x from a bag.

Thats fine... Its not scoped shooting so give yourself a bulls you can see... I do...

With a true target shooting 6 o'clock hold a guy can use 4" at 10 meters and hit dead center .. lol.. ( my eyes aint that bad......yet).

I had a good article on the hold that was for sport/competition target shooting that was not assault rifle/pistol/militry crap that seems all thats out there nowadays... Wished id saved it ... Its not the same by far. That assault rifle/ pistol is more spray and pray 6oclock holding not target...lol

The whamo gamo cphp.22 .. too many loose sized pre tin lately...
