So my Athlon Talos is the first scope I ever got with a side wheel and am kinda confused with focusing the target and reticle with the side wheel and eye piece. In the past without a side wheel I just focus the reticle and target with the eye piece. Now seems like both the side wheel and eye piece can focus the reticle and target. For example, my target is about 25yds and I adjust the side wheel to about 25yrds to focus on the target then I adjust the eye piece to focus the reticle. So when I adjust the eye piece the target gets a little blurry so I have to readjust the side wheel...do this several times then all of a sudden I'm at 30yds on the side wheel. What the hell am I doing wrong???

Adjust your eye piece on the reticle and don't move that again. I adjust mine by aiming at the sky. And it stays the same unless someone else shoots my rifle?

Yeah, what he said. Use the eyepiece to focus the reticle to *your* eye using a white wall or the sky. Then use the sidewheel to focus your target. If both are in sharp focus, then there should be little to no parallax error.

So with the recticle it doesn't matter what the side wheel distance is at? 10yds vs 100yds, I should be able to just have the recticle focus with the eye piece once set then forget it?

Yep that's the case with the recticle focus ...Set it and forget it . Point it at the sky and get it focused and then set it down to a minute and just look Tru it real quick before your eye can adjust and make sure it focused ( your eye can adjust fairly quickly)
