Omega Supercharger-Overcurrent Resets about 1800psi

Hi guys,

Any of you had this issue before?

it switches on, it flows, it begins to pump and build up pressure, everything looks normal until about 1400psi you’ll hear it labor a bit and then by 1600psi it trips the overcurrent protector

ive read the manual, I opened the coolant reservoir and it flows with no bubbles.

i replaced the burst valve seal even though it wasn’t burst, I cleaned that area and removed the check valve and cleaned it and it still didn’t work, I replaced the check valve too and still it happens.

Any suggestions?

only 34 hours on the clock and I’d say only 2 of them are from actual use.

Try removing the check valves and cleaning them. They are accessible from the top of the machine using the large wrench included with the compressor.
Remove each check valve, one at a time and clean all carbon and water from it. Also clean the check valve port from which the valve was removed.
I clean the check valves on my Super Compressor every six hours of operation. Takes at the most five minutes to complete.

Hi, thanks for the input. I did remove the burst disk assembly, cleaned in there, replaced the disk even though it was fine, replaced the check valve and removed it and cleaned in that hole underneath.

I only have one check valve though, are you talking about having two?

I don't own one of these units, but think about the problem.

Circuit breaker's blow because it thinks (measures) the current is too high.

A bad or too-long of a power cord could be the problem - if it has too much resistance, voltage will drop causing the current to rise to compensate.

The circuit breaker could be bad.

Or you ARE drawing too much current.

A leak will not cause it to work too hard -- just the opposite.

Beyond a wiring problem - something has caused the pump to work harder than before. A constricted check-value might be the problem.

That’s exactly how I felt, not an issue with a leak.

It has only 32 hours on the clock, I literally personally only ran it for 12 mins. I haven’t used it in a long time cos I was just so busy so I don’t think any compressor likes sitting idle. Well now I have time again to shoot...so low and behold I took out the compressor

The long and short of it, spoke to Todd, he recommended

1. Remove disk blown assembly, clean that area and under the valve/spring. Retry. Same result

2. Pour water 1oz at a time into that hole to try and loosen a valve, that didn’t work. Try 4 drops of Airgun oil in the hole, allow sit overnight and retry to see if it loosen it up, same result.

3. Was basically do a tear down, take apart the piston and replace the o-rings

here I noticed that the plastic assembly parts on the piston surrounding or encapsulating they O-ring were on backwards. They have a convex shape and curve around the o-ring, these curved sides face the o-ring. But we’re the wrong sides on my unit.

I replaced them, and the o-rings and put everything back together and it’s working fine!

just hard to believe they put them on wrong in the factory!

I had only put 12 mins on the unit!

im actually thinking of going with the DayState compressor anyways but now that I’ve solved what was up this thing will probably run a few hundred hours ...so who knows

Todd recommended once a month running for 1-2 hours with a dead end in the outflow tube and slightly open the escape valve to keep it pumping around 2500-3000 psi for 1-2 hours per month to keep all the parts moving and moist

It’s fixed.
I did try what your saying but that wasn’t the fix.

It ended up that when I opened up the piston the factory put the assemblies on the wrong way around. They are tiny little components with convex shapes that hug the piston O Rings to hold them and support them.
Well they didn’t set them properly and the O Rings got displaced and stretched

once I saw that I replaced it and it’s perfect since. Held 4,500 psi for an hour without leakage so I’m all set

it’s only got 32 hours it’s practically brand new
