OKCGC had their June N50 Benchrest match that was almost not a match. The weather folks were calling for rain all week heading into the match and even on Saturday, the day for it to take place. Oh it rained through out the week and was not looking good for Sat. They had it from 60-80 percent for Sat. What to do? Pearl and I went back and forth. We finally said "We aint giving in to it all! We are having the match no matter what!". Boy were we glad we did have it. It was a great day to shoot, have fun and visit people!
We were wondering how many shooters we would have on count of the talk of rain and that some Oklahoma gang went to Texas for a big FT match. Wouldn't you know it, we had all 14 concrete benches FULL and ready to go by the time the match started. Man that was a great sight to see! Mike A. from Kansas drove down along with 2 Texas boys that drove up to OKC. Thank you Ben and John. Mike A. doesn't have a 50 yard gun but wanted to shoot with us at the 25 meter line. We said sure , if you promise to get a 50 yard gun soon lol. He said I am working on that now.
The Match: It was in the 70s with a low mild wind of 5-8 mph all day.
Match #1 Pellet was won by Michael A. with a total of 738 and 32 X's!! Nice job! 2nd place wen to Mr. Keith F. with a total score of 731 and 31 X's. 3rd was Thom Davies AKA "Skittles" shooting a total of 713 and 14 X's! Then there was Joe U. with his BM 20 taking 4th with a 703 and 20 X's. Have to watch out for Ole Joey!! Larry brought out his Raw to tie with Lindell at 695 ea. and 19 and 14 X's respectfully. Butch right behind them at a 693 and 12 X's. Mike M. came with an RTI hitting 684 and 12 X's. The two Texas boys were here having a blast that we all enjoyed. We are really glad you guys came, not only to shoot but to hang out with us and even helped tear down the equipment. Thanks!
We had two Okies that shot Sportsman in Match 1. They to are also working on getting a 50 yard gun. Stan M. beat out his son Richard to take 1st with his 696 and 15 X's. Richard shot a 668 with 8 X's. Its always great to see you guys!
We let Mike A. from Kansas shoot the 25 Meter match and he did very well, gathering up 727 points and 16 X's. Cant wait to have you shooting the 50 yards with us Mike.
Match 2 was more divided up with Pellet, Sportsman and Pro this go around.
Everybody stayed at their same benches they shot the 1st match on. The weather was just as nice during match 2 as it was at the start of the 1st. We started the firing and they went at it!. The RF shot a touch higher scores than the pellets did. We hope to get that evened out as time goes on and we learn more.
I only got the equipment list for the Pellet guns. Thanks Bob Benda for getting this list for us! We will make sure we get all of it next time.
