There were 16 shooters that showed up in the heat for our July 16th FT match. Placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd were all 52's. We went to the standing lane to break the ties. It was Steve H. nailing all 4 his standing targets for 1st, then Mike Atwell hitting 3 of his taking 2nd place and for 3rd place it was Faisal hitting 2 of his. Way to go guys!!
Yes it was a hot one, somewhere around 103 degrees. We had made a decision to start the match at 8:00am. We talked to the shooters and most agreed this was a great idea! Even the folks traveling a long distance to get here liked that start time. We made sure we had plenty of cold water available along with some juicy WATERMELON! And all of that was gone after the match was finished.
We had a few out of towners show up, and we were glad they came out to shoot at our OKCGC range. Jeff Cloud, Faisil, Dave Cole, Rick Cuccio, Curtis Nelson and Stan Kaloyanov. Thank you guys for coming out, we had a great time.
We set up 15 lanes for a 60 round match. There were two shooters that wanted to do a 40 round match, so we made that happen for them! There was not a lot of wind during the match, but a lot of our Oklahoma heat, sorry guys, we will try to turn the temp down next time for Y'all.

I would like to say a special shout out to our gang that helped set up the match lanes and maintenance on the targets. We have a great bunch of folks that helped out the week before our FT match! To Tony, Joe, Bob, John, Thom, Pearl and I. It could not happen without you and all the OKCGC guys!! :cool: After the match was over everyone helped to pick up the targets and lane markers to be able to get to the watermelon sooner! Thanks.

P.S. This coming Saturday July 23rd we will be having our 2nd XFT match. It will take place at the Silhouette range. And we will be shooting under the CANOPY with SHADE!! We will start the match at 8:00am. Shooting 11 lanes 4 times each for a 44 round match. Targets will be set out at 20-100 yards. Guns will be pellets using .22-.30 cal pellets only, at no more than 100 FPE. Scopes: any power and can be adjusted during the match. You also can use a range finder if you would like. We will post the yardages at each lane. Your score keeper can also use binoculars or a monocular for seeing the target going over (a hit or a miss). But not to give any spotting info to your shooter.
The Gang at OKCGC!!

Now this photo of Mutt and Jeff (Joe and Butch), what a nice guy you are Joe to keep Butch in the shade! Did Butch reciprocate the shade blocker?

Great people, great match, great organization! Big Thank you to Pearl and Randy and all the folks who helped set up the course. Despite my bad result I was having fun, and really enjoyed every minute spent there. Well, I had the pleasure and the honor to shoot along with the winners in the last two matches Mr. Dave C. and Mr. Steve H. s. Very, very good shooters. Congratulations to all the winners and hope to see you next time!

If you haven’t shot with this club you are really missing a great opportunity for fun, camaraderie, a challenging but fun course and the occasional (becoming traditional) big ol’ tub of ice cold watermelon.
Yeah, I know, it was hot! Of course I know, I was there! But they got and kept thing moving so your not out in the heat all that long. And besides, 80% of the lanes are shaded and we had a slight (and welcomed I might add) breeze occasionally. So no excuses for the August match ya hear?
Sadly, I will not be able to attend the 2nd XFT this coming weekend. I will be basking the cooler breezes found in Colorado!
See everyone in August!
Here are some more pics I took.
