Man it was a cold start for our first Field Target match of 2023 but that didn’t stop 20 shooters from coming out!! It was 33 degrees at the 10:00 am starting time and went all the way up to a blistering 44 degrees at the finish. Tee shirt weather, well maybe not! We set out 30 targets with two position lanes and a Troyer of 30.5 with the wind on us from 12 mph to 18 mph. It made for a great match; I feel. We had 4 from the Tulsa area, one from Texas, and one from Arkansas join us. Thank you guys for supporting OKCGC. Some showed up early to talk with folks they haven’t seen during the winter, it was great to see everyone.
Once we got everyone shooting sighters and getting their hold offs figured out, we went into the safety meeting, drew the lane chips and then headed to their perspective lanes. Oh, everyone was still shivering while heading to the lanes, but once we said “WE ARE HOT” shots rang out and targets started to fall!
We had two WFTF shooters, two springers and a young junior going at it. And 16 HFT shooters. We really thought it would be lower because of the cold, but no, these Field Target guys love to shoot and they do come out! “We don’t need no stinckin warm weather” LOL.
1st place went to Rick Cuccio who did a great job knocking down 55 targets, NICE job! Mr. Dave Cole was close with a 52 for 2nd. Caleb Dickerson was right there for 3rd with his 51 HITS!. Thom Davies 4th with 50 and Mike Massie pushed out a 48 to take the 5th spot. Butch Everett and Mike Atwell both nailing 47 hits. You had to go all the way to 10th place to get out of the 40’s! And 3 more places to get out of the 30’s.
In Springer we had 2 shooters, Christian and Mike were here to bend those barrels lol.
WFTF had 2 as well, Jeff Cloud (Texas) with a great 45 score and Stan Kaloyanov (Arkansas) with a close 40. Both drove from out of state. We are so glad you both came out to OKCG.
We had a new shooter Steve Gerot with his Daystate. Thanks Steve for shooting with us. Thomas Firestone who came out with Rick and Leon, it’s been a while Thomas!! Good to see you. Gideon, our Jr. shooter, you did really well on the course, keep it up!!!!!
All of our shooters that come out month after month, we want to thank you and really look forward to next month’s match!!!
