Ok 50 yard R9 groups.

After crawling around on the floor all day pulling up floor tiles and moldings I managed to get some time before dark to shoot. Groups are either five or ten shots. I started in the left column top to bottom and moved right. There's ten shots at the upper sheet rock screw. If it wasn't for the two fliers that would have been fairly impressive for me. The dots are 5/8".

All the same ammo? That’s really good for a springer for sure. I am shooting mine now at 30 yards and it’s not easy keeping tight groups all the time. The gun is very capable, but it takes a lot of skill. Holding the gun the same way, each time. Squeezing the trigger the same way each time. I shake like a leaf 😂. Wind. Etc.

Yes it was the same ammo it was JSB 13.73 Exacts. I was lucky with the wind it was nearly non existent at the start. My groups weren't as consistent as I like because I was beat up and making scope adjustments between some of the groups. I even checked the stock screws after the third group opened up to the right. Stopping between groups made me lose track of my hold and position..
Springers can be tricky and I'm pretty happy with these results given my shifting circumstances.

There's a good thread on springer shooting tips pinned at the top of this forum.

Fwiw if you are shooting for accuracy or trying to fine tune your technique DON'T switch between pellet brands without shooting at least 50 of each. Each brand uses their own alloy and the barrel needs to be properly seasoned with several shots of a type before you can trust the results. If you flip flop between pellet brands you'll be chasing your tail. There's about a million other things to consider as well like scope mounting, barrel lock up etc etc. It's all a learning process.

Good shooting Ron,
Many things can happen to degrade groups ... seems every shooting session of mine is a little different (y) .

That's pretty good shooting for 50 yards in my book (y). Ok now I'm thinking about getting an R-9. I tried just for curiosity how the Crosman 2300S would do at 50 yards:unsure: wasn't pretty..
Today's crazy pricing a hw95 standard should do just as good ( for less). Only reason i got a r9 back when i did was the 95 was out of stock in .177 but it was available in the r9.. qnyway just somthing to ponder.. good luck.

Thanks. That happens to me as well. Sometimes I can do no wrong and other times I can't do anything right. But we gotta keep trying.

Hi Ron,

Interesting point about the reseasoning thing when changing pellets. I just went waaay rabbit hole deep after reading the barrel waxing thread on GTA. Do you barrel wax? (no sniggering at the back please).

Those looked great for a Springer at 50 yards and as good or better than some pcp's.
Without the overhead cost just to shoot it once , like a $300 compressor..lol

Only overhead with this is another tin of pellets. Cock , load, shoot , repeat.. all day long. Oops.. now i need another $7 tin of 500 count pellets..lol
