Just ordered a 2240. Got some co2 . Now I see that I have to oil the co2. Is any oil ok or do I have to wait till I can get a certain oil.? The mails is so slow that it might be spring before I can shoot if I have to order.

It is recommended to use a SMALL drop of Pelgun Oil on the top of the CO2 cartridge.

Almost any conceivable oil will work for the tip of a CO2 cartridge. 30W oil, Alphabet org, silicone oil, etc. Its role is simply to prevent the cartridge from sticking to the seal, and you don’t have to be concerned with the potential of detonation since it’s CO2.

Crosman will recommend pellgun oil. Umarex Recommend silicone oil. But some people will just use transmission fluid. I think you would be fine with anyone of the three. And although there might be a few people on here that will say no, there will be quite a few people that will say it will be fine.There was a big discussion on the GTA Forum about that. And some people believe that pellgun oil Is just a transmission fluid. Somebody even called Crosman and they couldn’t give them a definite answer.Although my Umarex Guns say use silicone oil ,I still use Pellgun oil. Just Google it yourself and you make the decision on what to use on CO2 cartridges. I understand you don’t want to mess your gun up but I’m telling you what a lot of people use and it is anyone of the three. But I was always told by many people that if you use 30 weight oil, make sure it is non-detergent. I don’t like using it myself.

Me, I use 100% silicone for everything guns. Safe, non-combustible, doesn't eat rubber. Even the powder-burners. 



Search for treadmill type on Amazon. (i.e. #AD https://amzn.to/36FdACc)

And a lot cheaper than some recommendations.

Yes I would agree with the posts above if you don't feel like making a run to walmart. Motor oil, Alphabet org, machine oil, air tool oil, motorcycle fork oil. Just don't use brake fluid it will damage the orings.

Thanks for the replies. I have some transmission oil already. If by some fate I get to a Walmart I will look for pel gun oil.

Its like trying to get smart,you ask one question get an answer and that makes you ask another.

You buy a gun then you just have to buy this or that. What fun!

You can even use your empty quart containers of Alphabet org just turn them upside down so they can collect in the cap and use an eye dropper or syringe to suck it and apply to the Co2 cartridge.

Bottle of Alphabet org would last you a lifetime. A tiny tube of Pellgun oil only last me 3 months if I’m lucky.

I just got a resealed S&W 78g, the only thing I plan on using is a silicone oil in it. In fact i used a dab of silicon grease on the CO2 cartridge tip the first time I loaded it up.
