The MSDS indicates it has a hydrocarbon base and the usual guidance is to avoid such lubricants in pressurized areas, and instead use silicone oil or silicone grease.
It can be used elsewhere such as on the hammer or bolt but many of us prefer a dry lubricant like tungsten disulfide or molybdenum disulfide.

I use Mobil 1 in my airguns, even the regulators and to date, none have exploded. I DO NOT use it as a lubricant on pellets or slugs. BUT out of curiosity I am going to put a light coat on the rear of some pellets and see if the FPS increases, indicating it's dieseling. I may lose a gun or my face but for curiosity it'll be interesting. My reasoning, synthetic oils have a pretty high flash point from what I've read, I can't find a darn things that relates to pressure causing auto ignition, now a sudden increase in pressure will cause things to heat up, possibly to the point of auto ignition. THAT does not occur in a moderately stable environment such as a regulator, simply because they haven't exploded on me...yet, it's been several 10's of thousands of cycles so it may still happen. I will say that my regs have been rock solid for over 6 months. Synthetic M 1 is very very slippery, IMHO reducing the possibility of friction/wear due to movement is a good thing, the o-rings, the Belleville Washers, the hammers and springs, it if moves it needs real lubrication, which will provide consistency, reduced wear and increased longevity. I even use the stuff in my PewPews that get hot nasty gasses in the BCG's and to date..20+ years, zero incidents. Way cheaper than the specialty lubes too of which I've got a small bin of.
I welcome any data showing me the error of my ways.

Allow me to preface this with, a more volatile lubricant may do something, that I'm not willing to find out.
