Oh boy, was I WRONG about the .25 Superior liner...

Well, 200 slugs, a squirt of T17 Foaming Bore Cleaner, Industrial Degreaser concentrate, 50 patches, a Huma TP, and Hoppe’s bore cleaner later, I got these from 30yds away with my .25 DL shooting the 26gr NSA’s at 950 FPS. The center group is what I got after sighting it in.

I should’ve cleaned it better, but after my last test, I noticed that the choke was completely fouled up with lead. After 30 minutes of cleaning and replacing the old transfer port with the Huma one, it shot like this. Pretty proud so far. What do you think of my NEW results?

From my limited experience ( I’ve certainly been spending time and money over the past year and beyond) I would try shooting at least 50 yards before I’d get too excited about a slugs performance. Had a lot show promise at 30 only to fall apart beyond that. You’ve got the right equipment and getting up to proper speeds. I’ve had some that shot great at 920-930 but didn’t like 950. Might need to go faster too.. persistence and trigger time
Keep at it and good luck!

Also I’d avoid using your normal powder burner solvents with all the o rings in our guns. Ballistol has always worked well for me. I caught a good tip on here the other day about turning your gun upside down to avoid anything running into the transfer port. Never have before and never noticed any ill effects but it makes sense.

50 patches!?

You need to buy a Patchworm bore cleaner. They're super cheap and work really well. http://www.patchworm.com/

Some slugs don't stabilize at such short distances. Your results are ok, do you have more distance to shoot?

Yes, 50 patches because of the foaming bore cleaner. I made sure to get it all out so it didn’t damage the o rings like Rob said. That stuff is super strong, but it gets the job done. Yea, I have almost 150yds to shoot, but I thought these results were amazing compared to what I had a day ago. Sorry to make this post sound like I just made the most amazing group with slugs in history. The 29gr did much, much better though. They were touching, totally forgot to mention it and take a picture.

I’m considering a Superior Heavy but it’s hard finding anyone using this. I hear that they are better suited to slugs above 30 gn. The 26 gn I would think groups better out of the Superior standard liner. But that’s going off of the marketing. Looking forward to seeing some 100 yard targets. And perhaps you’ll try some heavier, 33.5 or 38.5 gn slugs.

I believe ted used one on a video on his blog channel. Seemed to do really well with the JSB KO’s in .25. It didn’t really like any pellets though. I believe he said that the slugs were MOA at 100 and the pellets were 2 MOA.

I did consider trying the heavy .25 slugs but it just seems impractical with a dreamline. I’m only pushing the 26gr at about 930 and my reg is set at 135 and the HS is nearly maxed out. I’m also using the Huma TP, and the power plenum too.

I saw Teds video. I really wish he had included the heavier NSA slugs in the test but his plate was already pretty full. The only ammo to do good in the Heavy liner was the 34 gn knock out slug.
I bought the Impact2 for slugs. I have a gen 1 Impact for pellets.
I have the 700 mm slug liner A (missed the Superior release by a month) for the Impact2 and it shoots JSB MKII lights out. So there’s no sense getting the standard Superior Slug liner. The Superior Heavy shoots the heavier slugs best whereas the standard Superior doesn’t. So I’ll wait until the Heavy liners appear on the market and shoot pellets until then.
Slugs with my Slug liner A, are a complete waste of time. Or rather in MY slug liner A they are a complete waste of time.
