I bought a 500mm .22 barrel off eBay. Apparently this barrel started life as a solid that got reamed to accept a liner (permanently installed). The installed liner is claimed to be a NOS smooth twist rifled only at the muzzle. I have no idea of the twist rate but this barrel loves 14.3 cphp's. I'm mean stupid accurate. I initially thought my recently swapped optic on my ImpactX was responsible for this increase in off hand accuracy then duh the new barrel. I'm going to try the new gphp pellets next to see if they run similar.

Anybody know the twist rate of the early smooth liners?

From what ive read that little bit of rifling is 1:16. But imparts something really slow like a 1:50 spin rate.

Not sure on twist but hey that is awesome. I had a streamline with the same barrel. It shot the crosman premiers great as long as I slowed them down to below 800 fps. Faster they weren’t accurate. I had always read that those barrels only shot jsb pellets well. That just wasn’t true.

With the current changes to the CHP I have started using Apolo HP @ 14.6gr. For my rifles that shot the CHP well these Apolo pellets seem to fly very well. Yes, I am a sucker for newer releases of pellets to the market but avoid the odd designs. Look at how JTS and AEA pellets have started to replace JSB and H&N. There is another brand, Rifle, that I haven't tried yet but want to shoot them soon.
