NSA 25cal 29.0gr DB Expansion Test

Had a little fun today putting a few cantaloupes out of misery with some NSA 29gr slugs which my Impact really likes. I was shooting them at 975fps and at 50yds. Photo one tells the story the best. It was a little smaller cantaloupe with more of a solid interior. The exit side was really opened up and showed the devastation. This was the way it looked after it simply rolled backwards, no help from me opening it up. The slug stayed in the second one which I retrieved and photo'd. Photo two was taken of the other larger more hollow fruit. Not quite the damage due to it not having any mass to speak of. I found that slug in the one behind it also. Then the recovered slugs. The lower one is a 20.2gr 22cal NSA at 1030fps I shot a couple of days ago through the same fruits. Nice job Nick and they are equally impressive on pest birds.

I've been trying out 33.5, 38.? and 43.? slugs in my talon p with 18" LW barrel. The heavier ones are hard to seat and seem to have too much drag in this choked barrel but really deliver a whallop with the large transfer port up at 70 fpe

The 33.5s are very accurate, currently the lightest I've tried and my favorite of the three. I look forward to trying the lighter 29 grains as well. They expand to about 0.5" when i shoot them into modeling clay - always form perfect little pancakes.

The 33.5 and 38.? expanded well at 35-40 fpe when shot out of the shorter stock 12" barrel, but the 43's were not going fast enough to expand very well.
