I have not tried lowering the reg pressure to reduce power, and don't recall anyone posting of doing so. You would probably need a lighter hammer spring to match the lower plenum pressure. I haven't used, but others have, the low power setting on the power wheel, would probably be better than messing with the reg. Without a chrony, changing power/tuning will be very time consuming.
Yes, letting the air out is easy, getting it back in, a bit harder.
It's not too bad refilling from 2k, but from zero is a work out. You will also have to re-zero the scope, when you change the power.
