Nova Freedom .177/.22 55 Yard Accuracy vs Impact & Pulsar

Ok guys last video on the accuracy of the .22 & .177 nova freedom. I had to shoot today. Looked at the forecast no end in sight for winds to calm. I would be waiting months to get a calm day. Sorry for the long video basically 2 gun reviews in one. Basically the video compares my groups to the impact an pulsar at 55 yards.
The upfront if you do not want to watch 11 mins is it shoots fairly close and in some conditions outshines my other guns. Forget about groups or tight groups at 55 yards in high winds, just go with the rough estimates and get a feel of what can at least be done in an average to below average shooter.

The gun is $400 an worth the money.

Quite an interesting PCP rifle. Good accuracy and price. And gets quite a few shots. Great prepper or hunter rifle.

About the pump and the looks. Maybe redesign it where the pump (or pump handle?) can be attached/detached easily/quickly. This should be an option, as not everyone wants to remove it. But for hunters who may carry the rifle for a while and only may fire 2-3 shots every hour, this would save a lot of weight. Also, it would make the rifle look less bulky and more streamlined.

Also, not sure if feasible, but instead of a lever-arm pump action (up and down pumping).... maybe able to design it with a crank-style pump handle that rotates 360 degrees. Just like the old Ford Model T crank arms, or like a tire iron/lug wrench. Make the crank arm with swivel joints so it folds back inside the stock.

Pretty good review at HAM just recently:

American Tactical Nova Freedom PCP Air Rifle Test Review .22 Caliber[/QUOTE]https://hardairmagazine.com/reviews...e-review-22-caliber/embed/#?secret=XsN7GFwwLP

Tom, really did not see that was even possible. I tried the 33.95 grains and it was like throwing a rock. I have to look where the hammer spring is at and see if I can adjust it. I shot 22.5 slugs and they are clocking in about 770 fps with a 29.5 fpe. I will have to retest it again. This also makes me think about the .177 as in some cases just not enough power if you want to shoot heavier pellets or slugs. This could changes things greatly.

There is a hole in the stock in line with the hammer and valve spring. The allen wrench that came with the gun will fit the adjuster screw. First time insert the allen wrench and wiggle it cw ccw with a pair of pliers to break the loctite loose. Then you are good to go. Mine still cocked with the screw turned in all the way dependably. Regards, Tom

Tom, nice turned the both up now retesting for heavier slugs. I went from 650 to 870 on the .177 15.4 slugs. I went from 770 to 850 on the 22.5 .22 cal slugs. Going to the 25 yard range. I think this extra power will help group them a little better.

A side note, I shot the 34 grain jsbs at 690 and the 25 grain jsb at like 760 but the 22.5 slugs shot at 810 to 850. The .22 shot count went way down. I am also pumping up to 3500. What are you pump up and pump down to PSI when shooting this high power. Seems like there is no bell curve just a flat dump of air, from 3600 psi down to 3000 I am getting the most power but every shot after 3600 psi is less. To me this might not be usable unless you want to pump every 2 shots.

Your thoughts ?

I've been shooting mostly off of a regulator at 3200lbs. If you pump up to about 3400psi and shoot down to about 26-2800psi it should do OK. The hammer spring feels to me that it has a plastic spring guide in it, there may be room to shorten it and pick up a bit more. I'm waiting on some brave soul to do an article on taking it apart, then I will dive into it. Have you rechecked to see if the HS adjuster is still turned all the way in?

Tom, I went to the range today. I had dime size groups at 25 yards.
I shot a few of these on low, medium, and high power with 22.5 AONCO slugs.

For me I pumped like crazy when I turned up the power to max. I was sweating, heart rate way up and It is just too much work. At full power I was pumping between 5 to 6 shots, to get back up to 3100 PSI. When I went low power it was like every 3 shots.

I thought the slugs would perform better with a high velocity but I found the best thing is just find a real consistent speed, the groups did not change much.

I see some areas I can improve. Reduce trigger, clean the barrel like hell, and adjust the gun for most consistent air consumption all that pumping killed my accuracy LOL !

This is a great gun out in the field and if you want a consistent hunter on low to med power it will do great. The 55 cc air is just too small to overload it unless you really want to pump it all the time or run it off an air regulator but that defeats the purpose of not being tied to an air can.

All and All pretty happy with it.
