Umarex Notos first shot is off

In my recollection, whenever I had a random massive deflection like this it was a slightly loose barrel or moderator. A couple of shots shifted things to a happy place but when the gun was transported, it got out of whack.

sorry, that's all I got, best of luck!
Thanks, the chrono should be here tomorrow so I can get a little data then. Hoping to get it figured out

@nervoustrig @Vetmx yesterday the problem stopped? Not sure what happened? I haven’t changed anything or tightened anything. The first shot is now back on target. This is so odd and really bugging me on why it happened… I’m definitely not mad it corrected itself.

I finally got the chrono in today and told yall I would run the numbers. The shot FPS with H&N Barracuda extremes 18.52 grain are as follows:

669.8
674.4
677.6
672.5
670.6
665.8
662.9
669.1
668.2
662.1
665.3
667.5
665.3

I have not experienced large lateral shifts due to velocity variations. If this returns, you might try removing the two pins on the moderator and checking to see if the insert is loose or has debris that might on occasion hang into the shot path. A blast of air or two might shift it and that induces the variable response. Or, you may have just shot a piece of debris clear of your pellets passage and life will be good for here on. hope so.

Let’s hope the later is the case

I know what fixed it. The same thing that fixed your illness when you were a kid and your mom said I’m taking you to the doctor. Your gun got scared when it saw the chronograph. No more being lazy, playing games or messing around. Now it can’t get away with it.
Hahahahaha now that’s funny! I’m gonna have to keep the chrono in the same room with gun so it doesn’t start slipping again.

Many years ago, my powder burners were just fine and then, I got a chronograph.

The powder burners suddenly became very ill. Not a one gave velocities anywhere close to published numbers.....beware the chrono
If she is grouping good I'm not gonna fool with it. I'm just using the chrono to see if their is a huge swing in velocities everything seemed to be fairly consistent around 675 fps which is good enough for squirrels. I can see how its easy to go down the rabbit hole lol
