Nothing like a Gopher Afternoon

Sitting on the porch in my comfortable shooting chair (half asleep) watching the birds at the feeder and something to the side down low moved catching my peripheral vision. Yep, another gopher in the forbidden zone!!!

I sprang into action, imagine that...made it to the armory and retrieved my "Gopher Gun" and range finder. Stumbled back out to my porch and assumed the "the best ballistic position I can muster up" and started the waiting game. Luckily the wait was short and my rangefinder battery wasn't dead, I noted 20 yards on the screen and looked at my scope cap dope sheet and put the crosshair in position and squeezed the trigger.

I was rewarded with the " Pop of Success", a hit at the left front shoulder, and lights out, clean fast kill.

Well, I better rest up after all that excitement, I am planning to hunt rats tonight and got to be sharp.

Mr. dizzums,

Thanks for the compliment. I am sort of new to Airguns (little over a year), but already fell deep into the "abyss". The 3-12 Bug Buster was recommended by guys on this forum and they were right on. With my old eyes, I am deadly accurate from 7 to 30 yards with this set-up.

The Gamo Urban was my first pellet rifle and has not had one problem, I do not tinker with my rifles, so it is as it was when I took out of the box.

Do you pest, target shoot or large game hunt??? It looks like maybe a large bore rifle in your avatar.

Good luck with your pesting, stay healthy and safe

Mr. KatoKevin454,

The rifle, scope and pellets make it all happen, I pretty much just squeeze the trigger. Trigger squeezin is something my Dad, the US Military and my past employment trained me in.

My nightly rat addiction is a great therapy for me, I enjoy the night sounds and critters that frequent my logs, lumber and firewood stacks. I don't always get a rat, but I do have a good time none the less.

Good luck with your pesting, stay healthy and safe

Mr. davelarson,

Looks like you have a monster thinking " I own this place ", only one thing to do...LOCK AN LOAD !!!

You got this, no rodent is going to reek havoc here, not on your watch. I am rooting for ya man, you have the tools, the knowledge and patience. Let us know the outcome, with a trophy shot and blow by blow analysis. GUN HO

Good luck with your pesting, stay healthy and safe
