nomad ii only 10 weeks old is a brick :( :(

Yeah. Subject says it. I've a little 177 benjamin marauder that I've been playing with for use in a local club field target monthly meet - have been working on tuning the gun and getting side wheel marked up for ranging. I filled the gun once this morning and went through the 70-80 shots that I get with it @present setup on a full fill (3000 psi). Hooked it back up to the nomad to fill it again and . . .

. . . the nomad won't even power up. NOTHING. It's a $700.00 brick.

I found my invoice, order number, etc . .. and have fired off an e-mail to Pyramid Air re: "why is my two month old nomad ii dead?"

Yes - I've maintained it to the letter per the documentation - I even oiled it and changed the air filter just this morning.

Needles to say - I've been googling around - apparently there are a lot of these things spontaneously dying. Any of you in here own one / had any issues with it? This thing (literally) gave me ZERO indication of any issues - wasn't making any strange or loud or unusual noises, wasn't running high on the load - typically ran between 20-23, nor was it taking an excessive time to fill . . . it just - - died. {sigh}

Grrrrrr . . . . not a happy camper.

@Willie - negative. It does NOTHING. I work in I.T. and what we frequently call dead equipment, be it a desktop, laptop, switch, router, cell phone, etc . . . is a "brick". My nomad ii is a brick. :( :(

Thanks for the phone # - I'll call them on Monday as I'm 99.99% sure no one will pick up on a Sunday.

Just wanted to make sure, https://www.airventuri.com/airgun-resources/manuals/nomad2-air-compressor-manual-low-res.pdf

You might check this out and view the section on how to switch from 220 to 110 if the switch wasn't set fully it could have moved to the 220 setting and so will not work, You might also check the wires to make sure that they did not come loose,

Also Check the Fuse

I have blown the fuse and its easy to do, if you try to start the compressor with pressure in the line it can pop the fuse very easily

Mine died the other day as well. Mine had the "sounds like a hammer" issue that a few others reported. It was great up until then. I really like it and the convenience of taking it in the field. Unfortunately it is my only source for air at the moment. My dealer got in touch with Air Venturi and they will send me a new one as soon as they receive this one back. I had mine for a little over a month.

I still think it is a great compressor for what I use it for. Just filling guns directly either at home or in the field. I have used it quite a bit as I have gone through around 4000 pellets in the last couple weeks. So maybe 40 to 50 fills from 150 bar to 250 bar on 480 cc tanks.

Hopefully the new one gets here soon and works for much longer. I did order a Young Hueng as a back up and to use at home.

Good luck on yours!

Thanks,

Jeremy

My first unit came and wouldn’t even build pressure out of the box. Sent it to PA and they sent a new unit had this one about 6 weeks. Sure do like the form factor and being able to fill guns and just shoot. That said l, I wish I would have done my research before buying and I would have gone another direction. These are still new to the market at least in terms of longevity testing but the outlook for these lasting a couple years or more don’t appear good. With all the units AV has had to replace regarding these I’m still surprised they are even selling them to be honest various forums are littered with stories of these things breaking. In fairness these were never supposed to be 700 units they were supposed to be right at the 500 price point and then the trade war Happened. A 500 brick is certainly better than 700 or 800 brick. I really think the way to go might be a YH unit for 300 bucks if it last a year you could replace three of them for what these nomads cost and at this rate it might be lucky if the nomad units last a year!!

Long story short guys - it's a brick through and through. Per previous (above) I did crack it open earlier today looking for any loose wires / connections and did toggle the 110 / 220 volt switch back & forth ( and set it back to the default 110 ). Nothing. It's deader-n-dead.

PA getting a phone call from me first thing tomorrow (Monday 30 Sept) and . . . . hopefully they'll take care of me. I really did like this thing in the way that everyone does - size, convenience, portability, etc . . . . but aiy yai yai . . . apparently longevity is not in that mix. :( I didn't want to go with scuba tanks as I live out in the woods and am no where even remotely near any scuba shops that could service or fill them but now . . . . I don't know. Drop the bigger bucks and get one of the BIG compressors that can fill tanks ( and guns ) and then just fill tanks. Cha ching$. $1400 or more for the compressor and then several hundred for the carbon fiber tank . . . . the Hatsan, Air Venturi makes one (although this smaller on has left a bad taste in mouth now after that . . . ), and someone else . . . ( googling ) --> Omega (Airguns of Arizona)

. . . drugs would have been a cheaper vice then this. ( lol )

TBD - to be determined. PA did me a solid and sent me a pre-paid shipping label. I packed it back up (fortunately I've learned to keep boxes) in the original box that it came in and . . . it's been there since yesterday. (I watched it via the tracking number - I know it is there on premises.) I've yet to hear anything about it / notifications re: a new / replacement unit being shipped back to me, etc . . . we shall see. I'll post and let ya'll know when I know.

. . . haven't been in here in a while - work has been keeping me crazy busy. Readers digest - PA called me on this one and get this - the one thing that I didn't try was swapping the power CABLE. Yeah - the damned cord. It's (basically) a typical desktop PC style power cord . . . the damned cord was bad. the tech @PA who was testing it / looking at it called me and was really puzzled as he couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with the unit . . . we spoke for a bit, I told him all of the troubleshooting steps I did, he asked if I sent *EVERYTHING* back with the unit - I did. I guess he started testing my unit with the cords and stuff that *I* was using - he plugged *my* power cord into the thing, plugged it into his wall and . . . .

. . . . yeah. Brick city. The damned *CABLE* was bad. Short / break / bad connection at one of the ends . . . who knows. They tossed it, grabbed another one and re-tested - boxed it up and sent it back to me. No issues since.
