Nomad compressor experience

I have one of the cousins to the nomad. I broke it, twice. All my fault for starting the compressor while the hose was under pressure. The direction manual did not warn about that. I sheared the motor drive shaft both times. One paid for with significant discount a d free Friday shipping. The warranty replacement at no charge allowed me to break even vs. commercial fill at the dive shop.

I have a different compressor now, from Flying Dragon. It is slower, cooler running and still 12v portable. Xisico by brand. Nice little gun filler. Not fast at all but very quiet. Nomad/Traveller is ok. I like the Xisico theory of build. .

I had a horrible experience w/a Nomad - broke 3 times on me. PA was very cool about honoring the warranty on it but when it quit the third time - I switched to baseball umpire mode. ( Your out!!! ) (( lol )) I called them ( again ) and they offered to fix it (( again )) or refund me my money. I took the refund and got a 98cu ft carbon fiber tank instead and have since become a regular at a scuba shop that isn't terribly out of the way from where I work. ( I can use my lunch break to run out there, get it topped off and be back to work in a timely manner )

I have been reading about compressors for years,what I have gotten=luck of the draw....=lack of quality control.

What seems to really help is preventative maintenance.....do some before you start up your compressor ,it is almost like foreplay.

There was a post some time ago that actually asked all compressor owners to fill out a survey,it was quite informative...I think you can still look it up and gather a lot of great information from it.

Piles of garbage. First one out of the box didn’t work. Pyramid Air sent a replacement promptly. Second one died in six weeks. Took AV two weeks to get back to me and 7 weeks to send another. Third one died in 11 months took AV three weeks to respond and they want me to ship it back on my dime this time!!! The compressor is garbage and AV customer service is horrendous. I ordered the hill pump and for 300.00 more the quality between it and the Nomad is night and day. The Hill fills faster and is made in England the Nomad is made in China and the quality is awful. Stay away from this especially for what they cost.
