Nomad 2 My First Compressor I Like It

It would be unfair for me to try and give an "expert" review since this is my first HP compressor but I must say that I am truly impressed.

I shoot almost exclusively big bore and go through a lot of air (My wife seems to think I am full of hot air but that don't count)

East Texas is hotter than a firecracker right now and even in the shade it is brutal even so I have yet had any issues with the Nova overheating. Although with the East Texas Humidity I have had to make sure to drain water and keep it oiled more than expected.

The Nomad is heavy but I don't know how to compare that to others.

With a .45 Texan LSS, .308 Texan Carbine and .357 Bulldog setting on the firing line the Nova has had to put up or shut up. I haven't tried to use the 12 volt side yet so I will leave that for later but I will be taking it to the river with me on some hog hunts and it will be running off a 4 wheeler battery we will see. Both the .45 and the .308 are new and I have been getting them ready for game hunting, as such I have put a lot of rounds through them getting them dialed in

It may sound trivial but I like the bag it is a great way to transport the Nova and has plenty of room for your little extras you might need for refills

The Nova is not loud at all and unless you live in a house with paper walls I don't think it will bother anyone in another room or apartment next to you.

There are some quirks and gotcha (actually it can be a oh crap moment if your not careful) that you need to watch out for.

Before you even plug your compressor up make sure you have some silicone oil they ship a empty bottle with the compressor but that's it, so grab some at the same time your ordering the compressor. might also be a good idea to order an extra set of inline filters just to have them on hand. I also ordered a foster to foster adaptor so I can easily change out to different fill probes if needed just by having a different hose.

Just to be safe test the gauge by comparing it with one that you know is right mine is spot on but I have read of others having an issue.

You would think with a system that has a mother board ie "smart" one of the features would be an hour meter or some way to keep track of running time but it doesn't, I try to make sure to stay on top of oiling and draining the water from the bottom more than the manual says because of the high humidity. I don't think it will hurt anything but just remember when you drain from the bottom you are blowing the oil out too so make sure to follow the oiling procedure when you do. I don't know this for sure but I have also made it a habit of not just popping the release valve to wide open but open it a little slower than I would with a tank, it seems to me when I just crank it to wide open fast I am also purging the oil.

NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!!! Notice I Said NEVER try to start the pump with pressure in the line, It can really ruin your day, I lucked out and it just blew a fuse but I have read other cases where it fried the mother board.

I’ve had two of these. First one was a joke.... wouldn’t build pressure at all had to send it back to PA..... Air venturi’s Customer service is abysmal.... I contacted them three times in a week via three different modalities to try and see if I was just missing something and there was an easy fix.... never heard back.... sent the unit back to PA and they sent a new unit because it was within 30 days... have had this unit 7 weeks and it has been used ALOT.... filling FX crown, dreamline and Hatsan Hercules... thus far, knock on wood.... this one has been awesome.... however, I don’t have high hopes of Air Venturi’s customer service should and when a problem arises.... might be the worst customer service I have ever gotten when you have a 800.00 unit and in two weeks and three phone calls, and an email, and social media messages on day 20 you get hit up on social media AFTER your replacement unit is already in hand from where you purchased... thats a problem.... I’m going to buy a “big dawg” compressor and it sure as heck won’t be an Air venturi.....
