I have a little Nomad 2 and was wondering if it were okay to connect an inline water/oil separator tube between the pump and the gun. Would pressurizing the additional tube be too much on the compressor?
You should have no problem with an inline separator, with a small or medium sized filter, although a large unit will cut down on the lifespan of your already short lifespan compressor.
Still, you need a filter, sized for your environment, so you have to do what you have to do to get the moisture out.
One of the little Yong Heng cotton filters, placed after your original filler, will let you check to see if moisture is getting past. One placed before your original filter and changed every 10 to 20 minutes of run time or so will help your main filter last longer. When replacing the Yong Heng filters you can set the old ones out to dry and use later.
"Short lifespan compressor". That's what I hear. I've ordered a yong heng as my next compressor. Plan on switching over to it and only use the Nomad on the go. I've had this Nomad for 2 months and it's still going great but from everything I've read, I agree that the prognosis of it lasting is highly unlikely. I've been running it with one little inline filter with a cotton media that came with it. I've never seen or felt any moisture on it, but I do see moisture come out of the bleed valve and the other moisture release valve on the bottom. Being that I live in a high humidity area, there has to be moisture getting through. I have on of those tube filters with a cartridge that I was considering using with the Nomad until I have the yong heng setup. Just concerned it's too large.
