Root word "tactic/s". Find the solutions and utilize to the best advantage.
In real tactical matches employing specific tactics separates the top shooters, they overcame problems by solving them quickly and more efficiently than the rest of the crowd. Being a great shooter helps, that and thinking outside the box is a good combo.
Ha, that's why I both loved and hated tactical matches! Sucks zeroing stages but fun winning here and there when circumstances were favorable.
Story coming - Mind you I'm now referring to centerfire repeaters, commonly called Precision Rifles nowadays, this was a stage in a match I went to. The club I traveled to had a stage that began at these distances, 11Y, then 25Y, 50Y, 75y and 100Y. It was a KYL/ Know Your Limits stage. You had to choose which distance to shoot at and the dots got progressively bigger with distance, 100Y was 1.25", the rest progressively smaller. If you missed the dot on the paper at any distance you'd get a zero. The 11Y dot was worth all 100 points, at 25Y the dot was worth 75 points, 50Y was 50 points, 100Y 25 points. Everyone in the squad except myself and one other guy were afraid to even try the 11Y tiny dot because they had never shot their rifles that close before. Me being a FT shooter knew it was an easy shot, lol. the other guy and I got 100 points each!!! I was confident in my tactic all because of air rifle shooting!!!!!
