Nitrogen vs compressed air

Sorry I'm a little late to the party. I worked for a manufacturing company that had a lot of automated assembly systems containing lots of pneumatic slides, cylinders, etc. for motion. The company would have loved to run nitrogen in their pneumatics if it were affordable. They considered nitrogen to be the gold standard for pneumatics for its cleanliness and freedom from moisture. There's nothing wrong with using nitrogen in an air gun except for the cost.

I used to run my Rapid7 on nitrogen but it dropped the power quite a lot. With the same max fill pressure of 2700psi I was getting 28fpe on hpa and 24fpe on N2. I assumed at the time it was less dense therefore less power but not not so sure now.
